Welcome aboard! Join us as we dive into the updated 2024 P&O drinks packages to help you determine their value for money. In this comprehensive review, we explore the latest prices and inclusions, comparing them to pay-as-you-go options to assist you in making the best choice for your cruising experience.

Since our last coverage, prices of the packages have increased along with individual drink prices on the pay-as-you-go menu. We'll dissect the details, including what each package covers and what it does not, to provide you with a clear understanding of your options.

Here's a quick rundown of the packages:
* Refresh Drinks Package: Perfect for soft drink enthusiasts, covering tap soft drinks and fruit juices.
* Alcohol-Free Drinks Package: A comprehensive option including Costa drinks, mocktails, and a variety of soft drinks.
* Classic Drinks Package: Providing coverage for most drinks up to £7.50, with exclusions on premium options.
* Deluxe Drinks Package: The top-tier choice offering access to premium spirits and an expanded range of beverages.

We'll analyze the costs and consumption scenarios for each package, helping you decide which one aligns best with your preferences and budget. Plus, we'll share insights into P&O's bar menus, giving you a glimpse into the onboard drink prices without a package.

When it comes to choosing a package, it's essential to consider your typical drinks bill and consumption habits. For instance, with the Classic package, you'd need to consume nearly six drinks priced at £7.50 each per day to break even. Traveling with a partner? Factor in the combined cost for a clearer picture.

But it's not just about the packages—P&O distinguishes itself by offering reasonable individual drink prices, making pay-as-you-go a viable option for many. Plus, keep an eye out for promotional discounts and loyalty benefits that may enhance the package's value.

Still undecided? We share our personal experience and tips, including the option to bring your own alcohol on board, which may be preferable for occasional drinkers or wine enthusiasts.

Ultimately, whether you're team drinks-package or team pay-as-you-go, the choice boils down to your preferences and cruising style. Let us know your thoughts in the comments below—cheers to smooth sailing and good drinks!

Don't see a problem, to be honest. We're clocking up our 40th cruise this year, and I think we've only taken booze on board once. We much prefer to drink in a bar - we may take a drink back to the cabin but generally, we go back, get ready and go out again for dinner. We always have a deluxe drinks package on P&O as it gives us a greater choice. We costed the packages carefully when they first came out- we usually offset our OBC against the cost so it works well for us. In terms of drink prices, I think P&O are reasonable compared to what I would expect to pay in a London pub. With anything like this it will anger some people but others - like us - don't care. That's the great thing that we're all different. We have seen some cutbacks on P&O, of course, but I could list loads of businesses that we deal with that have also cut back on things. It's a fact of life. We've been with other cruise lines and they all have good and bad points, but we love cruising, and we'll still go with P&O. Wherever you're going folks, have a great time - happy cruising.

That’s answered quite a few questions I had. We are going on our first cruise at the end of April. We have bought the classic drinks package but would definitely work out the costings if we go for another cruise ❤

We've bought the Classic Package for our cruise so will see how that pans out. Will keep a tally of drink consumed and then look to see if it was better to buy as we go.

We are going on our first cruise this year we booked the Ultimate drinks package when we booked the cruise. It’s now the Deluxe package. I think for us we won’t break even but equally it’s nice knowing we can have a few pints or cocktails and not get a scary bill at the end. Taking two kids has saved us 25% on our drinks package too. Great video as always Jamie.

Great information once again Jamie. Not sure if you know, but there was a very professional voiceover during this video😊. So well described, go Maffoo 👏

Thank you Jamie and Maffoo. Very clear re: drinks packages. Confirms my decision to stick with PAYG. I booked a cruise for October with the 20% discount on offer. So tempting but wouldn’t suit my needs. I find bringing a bottle of wine or spirit and purchasing welcome on board package suits me for an extra bottle of champers in cabin/flowers and chocolates suits me as deluxe cabin not worth it for a solo passenger. I have my own P&O robe.

Team non-alcoholic drinks package here, we drink a lot of non-alcoholic drinks but not many alcoholic drinks and when we do have alcoholic drinks we'd rather pay for exactly what we want (including bottles of wine and more expensive cocktails) then be limited by a package.

I still can't for the life of me understand why frappes and fruit coolers are only included on the deluxe package though... Last I checked the blenders don't add any alcohol 🤔

PAYG definitely for me.
Great breakdown on everyone in intricate detail btw.

We were on Iona just after the prices went up (saw you on board) and I like a few beers a day and MrsT likes a Pina Colada and a some gins on PAYG and worked out at the end of the week we were around £300 better off that way.
Not at any point we we're watching what we drank too, we enjoyed ourselves without worry.

The thing that's worth taking into consideration too is port days. You're out all day in said city, are you really gonna get back to the ship just to neck down the drink to get your money's worth?

I spoke to a chap on the Iona who was with a larger group of friends and said how one of his friends had a few too many and missed out on Olden as he was nursing a hangover. I imagine he was trying to get his money's worth.

I’ve got the soft drink package for me and my daughter and I’ve got £75 discount because I’ve already paid for it and it’s my second time on Alia if I get £75 discount on all my drinks and the Internet if you

Team PAYG. Idont drink enough high end drinks to justify it.

Great voiceover Maffoo - very informative. We'll definitely be sticking with PAYG as I don't drink alcohol but my hubby does so isn't worth it for us 😊🥂 x

Lovely to hear Maffoo’s dulcet tones ❤️ I don’t usually get the package but got the 20% discount for our Aurora cruise so will give it a go. I will probably just break even but even a £1 over is a result 👍🍷🥃

Drinks packages only work if you are going to drink over 7 alcoholic drinks a day. Water / Juice / Tea and Coffee are free from the buffet. Plus you can take on your own soft drinks as many as you and you can take a bottle of spirits or wine each onboard. 2 week cruise for 2 - classic drink package will cost you £1500. Our bar bill last cruise was £300. No brainer unless you want to get drunk every night…😂
