I have to say that your videos have really inspired me to pursue this career . After having studied for a year at the university, and now having to start again from scratch and questioning me for months what to study, I can say I found the perfect one for me .
P.S. I didn’t even know this career existed. Thanks for making such good videos ❤️

Seeing your videos inspired me to go back to school for dental hygiene! 4 classes away from being able to apply for the program!

Dental hygienists offer a very skilled valuable service. They literally wallow in spit and blood all day long.. in my state I gave anesthesia. For a long time hygenists were not valued as much and to me very underpaid. Even a medical doctor can not administer anesthesia.. yet a hygenist can offer this skill.. yes .. we are licensed to numb your maxilla or mandible and yes.. hit your plexus of nerves in blocks in your head. Still, after all of the intense work, getting licensed in your state for both hygiene AND anesthesia.. AND Nitrous.. and so on and on .. Dentists want to pay you like $40 hour.. WTF? I mean we treat periodontal disease, we diagnosis and treatment plan for the supporting structures of the mouth.. but YET we still are not recognized in the field for ALL OF THE SKILLS we are required to learn.. and some jobs don't offer any benefits..and it is HARD HARD HARD work.. few do it full time after a FEW years. It's hard on your neck, back shoulders..and hands.. If you are an empath you will feel the tension of your patients and you will feel like you hit a truck at the end of the day. So let's just say.. today.. finally maybe you might be getting paid much better for all of the time, which was 4 years for a BS degree.. Yes, 1 year of prerequisites and 2 years for clinical and add an extra year for a BS. But NOW everything is so very expensive.. so I am not sure.. if hygienists are truly paid what they are trained so much for. A RN will be paid more hourly and also usually have benefits automatically AND, they are highly valued and revered in the community.. A RN also has room to grow and expand.. and they walk and move their bodies and they also can change departments and keep the monotony at bay. If you LOVE picking teeth all day and like feeling that after taxes your just not making that much for how much you know and are skilled for.. I would think TWICE. Just being honest from a person who went to a university to become a Registerd Dental Hygienist..licensed in anesthesia and nitrous.. I paid $48, 000 to become one and this was in 1998. Just saying.

Youre videos are so refreshing. So many times I'll end up on reddit or some other message board and it's just filled with people who have come to hate the career. Just incredibly negative and its start to really mess with me. Doubting if I'm making the right decision. I feel for those people and i hope they find happiness but man, more people that love the career need to speak up cuz these negative folks are very loud lol

Not to be a downbringer but i've read that "Dentists" in the US have the highest suicid, e rates in the medical fields due to pressure and bad salaries in the beginning.
Dental Hygienists are pretty different though, They mostly clean teeth and guide the patients on how to brush properly and take care of the teeth.

It’s too bad dental hygiene schools are so strict on GPA because so many are passionate about it but can’t get a chance based on past grades. Sucks

What if I want to become an orthodontist? Does it make sense to become a hygienist first?? I have no experience in dentistry. I was wondering what you would do in my situation

HELP please, maybe a video on this would be amazing!!! Good Morning! I found your YouTube while researching tips for Dental Assisting/Hygiene school. I feel like it's a bit ominous, but as a new mom of a two-year-old, I am realizing that where I currently live: Tucson, AZ, is not where my husband or I want to live AND that I want a fulfilling and lucrative career to help my family move and be supported where we move. We are set on going to Virginia but we have a plan to move in about 4 years max. It gives us time to save, pay of debt, and plan.

So my questions are big ones...

What is your recommendation for this situation?

Should I go to school to get my Dental Assisting certificate? Then continue to go to school here to get my Registered Dental Hygiene degree? Lastly and most importantly, will these credentials require me to retest in Virginia? Is it not as bad of a situation as it seems?

Thank you for any insights you may be able to share!

Can you become a dental hygienist if you have essential tremors? It’s a neurological condition which makes the hands shake. Some have it more serious than others.
