Once upon a time, a Japanese magazine held a popularity poll for vocals, guitar, bass guitar, and drums.
It was these four men who stood at the top of each.

Saw them in 75 & 77. From the second they start playing you can feel the energy from the stage. You realize it's really them up there. Only times I felt that.

**** My favorite song of all time, and definitely the best performance of all time. LZ is unequaled.

John Paul was so talented that he never needed to even be in a traveling rock band such as Zeppelin. He didn’t aspire to be famous. He just wanted to serve the music - if not to 20, 000 attendees in a hockey rink or to 3 people while sitting on the sofa. His parents were a traveling musical act so he’d been on the road since his earliest years. A true child prodigy who’s immense talents & contributions to Zeppelin helped it gain its famed cruising altitude.

jimmy, bonzo & jonsey had perfect silent communication for them to be so tight togather thruout improvizations of the songs.they rarely miss a beat.i find that extraordinary.crazy good musicianship.

I doubt we will see another guitarist like Jimmy in our lifetime or any other. He is mercurial.

Have you not thought that most rock / blues singers don't analyze their voices.. Singing from the head the chest etc... They just do it they just sing the way they know how

I still get the chills when I listen to this. The same as when I saw it live in the garden when I was there for this concert

Should also keep in mind that by the time this was performed and filmed (end of July 1973), the band had been performing this tune for almost three years.

They were rock gods in every sense of the words. Plant oozes sex and of course since he usually wore the shirt of the girl he was with the night before. Not only the vocals but his look; he's definitely epitomizing that saying of "sex, drugs and rock and roll.

Everyone should read Hammer of the Gods. They talk a lot about why Jimmy wanted a singer like Robert plant.

I was at that concert back in "72 in Madison square gardens. It was probably out of all the hundreds of concerts I've been to probably the most entertaining as far as individuals skills are concerned. watching John Paul Jones give birth to the keyboard and the bass and watching Jimmy Page play The leads as if he knew everybody's thoughts in the audience. And watching Robert Plant, convey the feeling audibly. It was amazing. It was the beginning of my music journey and i'm still riding that train
