ASUS ROG Ally | BIOS 323 Performance Boost | Is 6GB VRAM The Best?

preview_player
Показать описание
In this video we took a look at elden ring, call of duty modern warfare 2 and more. We tested performance in the latest BIOS 323. Comparing the VRAM Buffer (UMA Frame Buffer) against it self, running from auto all the way up to 8gb, including the newest options ASUS added, unfortunately they are not accessible through the armory crate software and need to be accessed through the bios.
Once activated this should help offer a significant boost to performance in GPU bound games, while still leaving enough system memory for Windows 11.

Enjoy!

Also instead of turning off your ally you could.... Settings > Recovery > Advanced Startup > Restart Now. WIthin the menu that loads select Troubleshoot > Advanced Options > UEFI > Firmware Settings

6gb is the sweet spot in my testing as well. I get 90-100fps inside online matches with mw2 with my settings I use. I’m glad they did it even though I’m not using nowhere close to 6gb or vram it’s weird that it does better than 4

I did 5GB 900p 80RIS and it looks exactly like 1080p anyway. All games I’ve tested only maxes out 4.5gb vram max with shadows on. I do have azan in the bg when i play so i opted in for 5 instead of 6 since twitch n yt takes up 300-600mb of ram

6gb runs Diablo IV at 1080/60 buttery smooth. It was already good at 4GB, but I was mostly playing 720/120z 6 really seems to be the sweet spot if you want to bump up to 1080

Looks like asus should get with developers and start making settings for rog ally would be nice if newer games had a rog ally settings mode

6 is the perfect middle of the road setting. At least for most modern AAA games.

Now if I can only get rid of those micro studders...

Might have a strange lead but needs testing.

"don't both liking or subscribing" means I like and Subscribe since it shows your content are mainly made to help others and share your experience, and I'm someone who usually ignore sub or liking lol

Thanks for these. With Hogwarts Legacy only pre-optimizing shaders when Auto is enabled I've needed to keep it that way, otherwise I'd be happy with it set to 6 or 8. I really wish Asus had offered a 16GB version.

Temperature would be nice to show as well. Some games like Cyberpunk appear to run way hotter at 4GB. Up to 18C less at 6GB, but similar performance.

I only played 1 game with this change.. dying light 2 on the performance setting in armory crate.. I’ll get about 37-41 ish in most cases and in some I’ll get over 60. That’s amazing!!im kinda shocked! I don’t know if it makes a difference but this is also on battery. I’m loving this thing even more!

can you make a profile for each games vram setting?

6Gb vram is the sweet spot. I have been testing it in over 30 games and get great results. Before I was swapping between 4gb and 8Gb. I set it via the bios but would be good if they added to the crate options l

6gb is my go to. My favorite to play is currently Monster Hunter World and it requires a bit over 4gb.

Great video. I was about to use 6Gb, but with the 323 BIOS I'm unable to set manual fan curves. The minimum fan speed we can set is too high and makes the Ally unnecessarily loud. There's no need to cool the APU down to 60C manually when in turbo mode it goes way beyond that. So for now I've rolled back to the 317 BIOS until they allow us to configure manual fan profiles properly.

I play mostly indie games, old AAA games or switch emulation

Thanks

Thank you for the benchmarks! Are all these benchmark like 3 run averages or are these just one run?
