GENERAL GAME INFORMATION:

"Mario Party" is a series of party games designed by Hudson Soft and featuring the most famous characters from Nintendo. The first part of the franchise was released on 03/09/1999 for the Nintendo 64. The goal of the game is to collect the most stars, which you have for coins that you can get from blue fields or win in minigames, and become the superstar . The die shows the numbers 1 to 10 and various items affect the gameplay just like the event fields. If you pass the Koopa bank, you have to deposit money, if you land directly at the bank, you get all the money you collected paid out.
The successor "Mario Party 2" was released on October 12th, 2000, optimized the gameplay enormously and added new modes.
The third entry appeared on September 3rd, 2001 and for the first time relied on a curious story mode and a large number of items. "Mario Party 3" also introduced Daisy and Waluigi as playable characters to a wider audience. "Mario Party 4" was released for Gamecube on November 29, 2002, which replaced the Koopa Bank with a lottery and introduced a story mode that was strongly based on the party mode.
With "Mario Party 5", released on December 5th, 2003, there were major changes for the first time since Mario Party 2. The item system was completely turned upside down and the capsules were introduced, which could be used for themselves or transferred the respective effect to an adjacent field. "Mario Party 6", which came to Europe on 03/18/2005, took the capsule system, improved it and also introduced a day-night system. Various events but also mini-games are different during the day and at night. As an additional gimmick, a microphone for the Nintendo Gamecube was released, which came with the game. Some selected mini-games could be played with voice control.
The microphone is also integrated in "Mario Party 7", the last Mario Party Game released for the Gamecube on February 10, 2006, and the capsule system is at the start. Character-specific ultimate capsules and an 8-player mode are new.
On May 29th, 2007 the first offshoot for the console with motion control, Nintendo Wii, appeared with "Mario Party 8". In addition to motion control and the possibility of using Mii characters, this part did not present any great innovations, but unfortunately some downgrades. The resolution is the lowest of any Wii game, a handful of candy items felt like a drain compared to the capsules, and the range of game modes is limited. After Hudson was bought by Konami, the studio "NDCube" took over the series and released "Mario Party 9" for Wii on March 2nd, 2012. The changed gameplay, in which all players had to sit in a wagon, collect ministers and defeat bosses, fell through with most fans. "Mario Party 10", released on 03/20/2015 for WiiU, took over the unpopular gameplay, but offered an innovative new mode with the "Bowser Party" and with the "amiibo Party" a minimal approximation to the old system. With "Super Mario Party", released on 10/05/2018, NDCube returns to the roots of Mario Party and implements only the best past and new ideas. On October 29, 2021, "Mario Party Superstars" was released, a collection of 5 boards from the N64 era and 100 mini-games from Mario Party 1-10 and an online mode for the switch.
In addition, some parts for handhelds appeared.
