3 months later - is the Snapdragon X Elite good? Dell XPS 13 9345 review!

It's been actually 4 months since the launch of the Snapdragon X Elite chip alongside all of the laptops. I had high hopes, thinking that the Snapdragon X Elite would bring a new generation of Arm-based Windows laptops to the forefront and give x86 a kick in the nuts - but it seems that I was wrong.

I have nothing against these Snapdragon chips, but as long as you know, they will be compatible with your workflow. My objection was the blanket-sponsored coverage marketing these devices by most creators, who needed to be more forthright with the negatives and overplaying the positives.

As for the slow updates, I warned in comment sections when the defenders said it would be all sorted quickly. I said that if you buy this Gen-1, you will be a beta tester, and you should not buy it if you are an average user just wanting it to work.

The advantage for those looking for bargains is that secondhand prices have dropped to about 50% for relatively new examples, so at half the price, you can be more generous with your forgiveness of the cons.

The fact that no SnapDragon Dev Kits have reached Developers, shows how serious both Microsoft and Qualcomm are about ARM on Windows.

Meanwhile, Intel and AMD are making impressive strides in Efficiency, whilst retaining Power closer to both these SnapDragons and Apple's M-Series SoCs.

The Intel Lunar Lake seem pretty impressive. Really on-par Battery Life, commparable to both SnapDragon PCs, and Apple's MacBook Air, really close performance, no Heat, and no Fan Noise, whilst having no issues whatsoever with Compatibility.

Why woulld anyone swtich to ARM then?

I have a Samsung Book 4 Edge, I was having a great time with the battery and how snappy it was but the release of Lunar Lake seem to be the worst news for Windows Arm as momentum has been disrupted on developers trying to support WoA and I'm genuinely heartbroken that I wasted my hard earned money on this, one of my worst financial decisions and I don't think I can sell anywhere near the price I bought it what do you think should I do?

Just too many apps/software not compatible for me. Even though most of the ones that are compatible are within my workflow, I don't want to have to check "will is work on my laptop" frequently.

I'd rather get the Dell XPS 13 Aura with the Lunar Lake. Similar battery life, excellent single core CPU performance, solid iGPU for gaming, and full X86 software compatibility. Only issue is the multi-core performance.

Do you think that Microsoft and Qualcomm have reached a plateau in terms of resolving incompatibility issues? When the Snapdragon for PC came out 3 months ago, they said, give us a few months, we are making updates rapidly. Do you think progress has basically stopped and it will stay where it is forever?

Will you soon review a Lunar Lake PC, with nearly the same efficiency as Snapdragon but without big incompatibility issues? At least that's what they say.

It's such a bummer Microsoft is screwing this up. Apple has proven ARM on laptops is a great way to go

Honestly I would stay away Snapdragon chips till Microsoft gets it main OS solved some of the issues. Plus some of the apps are still not yet supported ARM CPU, me till now dare not to try it.

This whole Snapdragon Laptop thing is a scam.
It should never be advertised as an alternative to x86 Laptops.

It's more of Windows alternative to Chromebooks, because besides web browsing nothing is guaranteed to properly function.

Even Windows on Macbook seems to work better than this mess.
