My favorite scene in FMAB has to be when The Truth congratulates Ed for sacrificing his own Gate. Almost like The Truth was as excited about the moment as the viewer is.

“The lack of ability to grow is spiritual death.” Is such a raw line.

I think we all need to appreciate the fact that Nick made high school DxD not sound dirty

The thing about Mustang's sight, according to the show, his sight being taken, had more to do with his "vision for the future" and how without sight he would never get to see that future. His ability to get his sight back had more to do with the fact that Dr Marco had a philosopher's stone, seeing as even Edward could have used one to get Alphonses's body back, and simply refused to do so, because how one is made, is likely one of the most horrific processes in anime.

11:58 the fact that Ed was a stubborn headstrong kid who never relied on anyone else, and then lost his leg, literally not being able to stand by himself and needing others like Granny and Winry is one of my favorite uses of symbolism in Fmab, another good one is that Colonel Mustang saw a future that he could build for his nation, and then lost his eyes in the transumtation process.

The way Hiromu Arakawa (the creator) mapped everything out is amazing, and is why FMAB is my favorite anime

"You've done it! That's the right answer! Good job, you've beat me! Go ahead, take him home! The back door's right over there! Goodbye, Edward Elric!"

The sheer joy in Truth's voice that someone, FINALLY, understood the lesson he was trying to teach..

The terrifying thing about Truth was its fairness. The balancing of the scales, the equality of the World onto the One. No judgement. No bias. Pure and honest Truth.

P.S.- You brought up a good point about Mustang and his eyes that I never realized. Truth usually just rips out the payment. Mustang still had his eyes, just no sight. Interesting touch.

My guy, this your your magnum opus. I’ve never seen “Truth” broken down in such an enjoyable and comprehensive way before. I’m a huge Fullmetal Alchemist fan, and I’m so happy you decided to do this video, rather than a much more simplistic “top 10 strongest list.” Great job!!!

I've always liked Truth, as well, because I believe a genuinely omnipotent being would be, like you said, impossible for us to fully comprehend (and therefore what we'd see would be WEIRD and limited), and also...not hung up on showing off that power. Why would they be, being something so massively powerful and outside our realm of understanding that it spans all of creation, all of time and space. They just take their toll and carry on.

Truth is also the most powerful because once you have entered the realm of truth, only Truth can let you leave, and since he is also you its not like you could really fight him. Like if we took Goku and put him in the realm of truth, its not like he could punch truth to get out, Truth is undefeatable unless you have understood and learned from his lesson.

He mentioned the anti spiral and the nostalgia of Gurren Lagann flooded my brain. Please Nick, make a video on it somehow! Like what is spiral power?

14:30 But Colonel Mustang's eyesight was one of the things most dear to him of his body. He lost the ability to see the future he wished to create. The future he had been looking forward for, even before the ishvalan war. He did get his sight back, but I think, very strangely, that the truth seemed to have punished him as if he'd done it.

Bro On Gawd I was thinking about the same dude like 2 hours ago. I swear this man Nick has mind reading powers. And the supernatural ability to write, film, and edit videos in under a day.

I love the characters in fiction that are all-knowing rather than all-powerful, mainly because they know as much as the writer rather than the reader.

No lie, I always had a strong sense of respect / fear for this character. They never over used him, was unbeatable and whenever someone came face to face with them they always paid a fair price.

The Trusth is honeslty my favourite depiction of God in fiction. It's profound. Its not a condemnation of God or the concept of God. But just simply a lesson in humility and a reminder to live life to the fullest. Its beautiful.

Gotta say this one of my favorite types of videos in storytelling one of the satisfying tropes is when the character is forced to acknowledge all their own
flaws /weaknesses

i kinda thought that the reason the Colonel Mustang lost his sight was bc he had a vision he was working towards that he saw for the country, which kinda put him at odds with Bradley,
so him losing his sight would mean he would no longer be able to see the country he wanted to create
But Nick made sense there
