Thousands of Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots were killed during violence and conflict in the 1960s and 1970s - many of them have never been found.

In this documentary, Lakhdar Brahimi, Jimmy Carter and Desmond Tutu join four teenagers on the island - two Greek Cypriot and two Turkish Cypriot - to learn about efforts to locate and identify the remains of these victims and return them to their families. Their journey raises difficult questions about the nature of forgiveness, and how communities living side by side deal with past conflict.

The film was premiered at special screenings in Nicosia and London and broadcast on Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot television in 2011. The Elders and their young friends, Idil, Tayfun, Thalia and Michael, hope that the documentary will help current and future generations to better understand the painful memories of their families and communities, and that dialogue and understanding may eventually help to heal the wounds of the past.

Duration: 38 minutes

I was born and raised in NY. My mother and father are both from Cyprus. My father himself was in the war, so I was able to find this video very interesting as well as informative. Thank you so much for the upload.

I now realise with utube u just have to keep going until you find decent people. I however would never undermind anyones pain. I have seen in the uk how this has affected many greek and turkish cypriots. This is a BRILLIANT film and the elders are GREAT MEN OF HUMILITY. Ghandi said AN EYE FOR EYE will make the world blind. Another great man Nelson Mandela was in prison for 27 years AND FORGAVE. SO CAN WE ALL! I am a
half greek cypriot. Bless u all muslims and christians we are equal.

I have worked for peace in bi-communal groups; I have come to a conclusion: a) politicians (local and foreign) do not want peace and re-unification; b) Most of the Greek Cypriots do not want to share the island with Turkish Cypriots (they want TCs to live under GC rule as a minority)

I've been trawling through YouTube, watching documentary after documentary about Cyprus - and none feature any Turkish Cypriots. I know about ENOSIS (the Greek wish to unite the island with Greece), I know about EOKA B targetting Turkish Cypriots - but all we ever hear about in these documentaries is the Turkish invasion. *Not the reason for it.* There WAS a Turkish Cypriot population on the island for hundreds of years. Someone needs to create an honest, two-sided documentary.

Seeing those bones on the tables I feel a deep hate in my heart. I can never forgive or forget and any talk of reunification or co-existence sickens me deeply.

The UN were useless during the conflict.

The only way this sort of conflict would ever start again is if the island was reunified and the Turks treated like a minority again. So give it a rest. Leave it as it is.
