Jessie Tan
I am Jessie Tan, in my mid-30s and pursuing the Bachelor of Arts in Psychology programme awarded by Murdoch University at Kaplan. I am currently working as a civil servant. I have always wanted to take up psychology and keen to study humans' thoughts, feelings, and behaviours. Although I chose another tertiary subject after my A-levels, I know that one day I would still return to this decision. I chose Murdoch University because the programme is accredited by Australian Psychology Accreditation Council. As a working adult, I have the desire to return to school and continue to work at the same time. Kaplan which is well-known for its great student support has naturally become my choice. I am pleased with my achievement. It has reinforced my belief that working hard and working smart are parts of the equation for success. It has also given me the confidence to embrace more challenges moving ahead. The readings, assignments, and discussions have definitely enhanced my system of thinking and problem solving skills. I have stronger self-awareness, more aware of the psychological blind spots, and therefore have the ability to look at issues from different perspectives. Naturally, at work and in other parts of life, it helps in building effective relationships with others and importantly with myself.I appreciate the fact that Kaplan has given me the opportunity to pursue my studies on a part-time basis, and keeping the course fee affordable. The staffs at Kaplan are responsive and quick to address concerns. The new facilities at PoMo campus have further supported the learning needs of the students like myself where I am a frequent user of the library and student lounge.
Patrick Ong
I'm Patrick, 29 years old and have recently completed the Bachelor of Arts in Psychology programme awarded by Murdoch University at Kaplan. I am currently working as a Financial Counsellor at National Healthcare Group Polyclinics. The recognition of the programme is very important and Murdoch University's psychology programme is fully accredited by the Australian Psychology Accreditation Council. I feel that the course content and structure of this programme is really good. Furthermore, Murdoch University at Kaplan offers it as a part-time programme and this gives me the flexibility to work in the day and study in the evening. I feel very happy and honoured to receive this award because my academic performance is being recognised and appreciated by Murdoch University. The programme has helped me to understand more about myself, and that enables me to approach and manage patients and co-workers better at work. They are friendly, supportive and responsive to students' enquiries.
