This farm is for Java Minecraft and will work in all recent versions of the game!

(TIP IF THE GOLEMS KEEP SPAWNING ANYWHERE BUT INSIDE THE PIT) Make a floating block above the center of the pit and place a boat, put a zombie in and give it some shadow, the iron golems will come swarming.

Really concise and well-paced guide. I didn't really have to pause and rewind constantly. This one was quite nice and refreshing after watching other guides where I'd take a second to itch my nose or something and suddenly the entire build is done and I have no idea what happened.

I would recommend going 20-25 blocks down because in order for a villager to attempt to summon an iron golem there needs to be none in a certain span of blocks, so the lower you go, the more efficient the farm is.

I noticed that if you use a bamboo raft the zombie's sight line will be too high and the villagers wont get scared, switched to any other boat and it fixed the issue.

Tip: If you don't want the poppy's in the same chest, fill the first chest with 1 iron in every slot, then get an additional hopper and another 2 chests (or one) then place the hopper underneath the iron chest then place the 2 additional chests underneath that hopper and fill the chest with the poppy's the same way with the iron chest that way you can separate it

Side note: If flattening the area is difficult (or at least time consuming), using slabs or carpet around the area can help

For anybody having trouble getting the villagers in the hole you can just place the boat over the hole and break it

Tip if you are struggling with iron golems spawning where you don't want them to. Fill in all the surround caves with water to stop golem spawning in them. Place a zombie above the trap hole with shade in a boat. Put a large fence around the farm and fill in with torches to avoid any mobs coming close and distracting the golems. My farm wasn't working at all until I tried doing all that now it works a charm

I built this farm. Had a few issues that I had to iron out, no pun intended. I flattened an island to build this and had to make sure there was not place for the golem to spawn in the villager pit. I used carpet to achieve this, as per a comment in this video. The drops keep getting stuck though so I reset them and hopefully they will fall into the chest.

If you are bringing water in survival, you only need 2 buckets for water. When you get to location, dig a 1x3 hole and fill the ends with water. The middle block will convert to a water block. You can take from that middle block for infinite water. Provides just a little extra room in you inventory if you want to bring other stuff. Also, bringing raw materials saves more space. 36 wool, 60 wood planks will only take 2 slots instead of 16 for the beds and boats. 4 planks for a crafting table, 20 planks for 4 boats, and 36 planks and 36 wool for 12 beds.

Pro tip you can also create a 3x3 or bigger border around the 9x9 grid with slabs or other non spawnable blocks! It helped me a lot

This design could work in bedrock if all the villagers have an occupation and there are 5 villagers in each of the rooms. works decently well :>

"What this zombie actually wants is freedom." This killed me🤣

For the people that it is not working for, in 1.21 I needed to dig one further down for the villager holding areas (?), also make sure the boats cover the 6 blocks that are exposed by the zombie, or just spawnproof those blocks, since otherwise the iron golem can spawn there, (happened to me). And as a lot of other people are saying, if they spawn above ground just put a zombie in the middle of the drop above so that the golems can see it.
