I really like your project. Preppers could use your ideas to augment “go to” camping sites. The ability to use the trailer for additional solar production, battery storage, and inverting power at home is clutch. This helps many with restrictions such as hoa’s, limitations for arrays, or worried about permits.

Brilliant. Really makes me reconsider my plans for Tesla solar tiles or solar panels. This camper + solar + inverter + batteries makes way more sense and has a lot more utility. And if I ever move I bring the panels with me. I know as a tinkerer myself you can’t give a whole install but could you someday provide a component list? Big items like the inverter, batteries, panels, controllers, even that AC unit. It’s way easier to modify off a know working setup than to start from scratch. Thanks.

I put 4 panels on my 6x12 cargo trailer. All I charge with it is my lawn equipment, all electric of course. I have a single LV2424 and 4 BYD old packs. Maybe 8 kWh of storage. When parked with direct sun, the 4 panels keep the old packs charged and all the tools topped up nicely.

I’ve been wanting to build one of these. I have this idea that would let me have more control over angle of the panels, but also configure it to be able to store stuff and walk on the roof.

I truly love this idea. I've long been considering a mobile solar system. I have a Ford lightning I'd have an easy time pulling something like a trailer. I may also be moving within a year or two and don't really want to put solar on a house I'll be leaving. So a mobile set up like this is perfect. Thanks for your video and sharing your idea. (I just got into drones recently as well. Are you my best friend soulmate?)

This is a good step . I think a good idea is to figure out how to use folding panels that can be attached and stored on the car and folded out when u need to Park and charge.

So was just thinking of a build like this but was thinking of adding a alternator that would be fed by a fan belt onto a pulley mounted on a wheel or wheels.

we need a like a carpet solar panel that can roll up and unroll when needed.. imagine a 6'x100' long solar panel you just unroll.. have each cell a self contained unit in polycarbonate perhaps that velcros to the carpet or slides into pockets of the carpet.. and connects to a bus line.. a little led on each to point out any damaged or unplugged ones or low production ones.. or just an app that detects problems and gives coords row 84, col 2 is shorted..

Definitely something to think about for a STHTF bug out rig! Just throw in some food, water, and weapons and go as far as you need to.

well done this came more light than older campers and you have less drag and ur harley... 10 out of 10 from me but if i tried one i could use even smaller trailer and a van type car.. bad thing is the idbug isnt so good in long term rummors
