I have an iPad 8th Gen and I have been following the 'hold power + home' until the device turns off, count 3 seconds, let go of power and keep holding home which worked for older iPads but couldn't work for mine as the iPad kept going into recovery mode when I held the home button down. Anyway, I found your video and followed it and now my device is in DFU Mode. By the way, iTunes now shows 'iPad DFU Mode.' Today is October 26, 2022 with the latest version of iTunes on my Windows PC. I guess Apple corrected that now :) Thank you 1000 times.

I was really struggling to get it going with my 8th gen, but turns out you need to use a USB-A to Lightning cable and NOT a USB-C to Lightning. Just the power + home for 10 secs, then home after that worked for me.

Volume down button is not needed and messes it up. Just release power and keep holding home button.

Tried 10-15 times with the type-c cable but it always stuck in the restore screen. And saw someone comment try with a type-a cable. I put my iPad 9th gen in the dfu screen for the first time.
