I have a 2023 Clio V TCe 90 manual new ordered since April. Now in December 2024, after 1 small maintenance last april and 41k km’s on it, no complaints and very well built small car😎

I just ordered the Renault Clio V Esprit Alpine with this engine with a 6-speed manual. In about a month I will pick it up from the dealer. Absolutely looking forward to it. Stunning looking car!

I have a Citroen C3 with a 1.2 puretech for about 2 years now from 2016 (2009-2016 model) that I bought second-hand with relatively high mileage for its age (95k km - now 110k km). But considering all of the puretech probems (especially the wet cambelt that doesn't inspire confidence over years of ownership) I couldn't resist trading it in at a decent price.

In all fairness, my puretech runs fine (it had its belt replaced in september 2024). But I keep seeing a lot of issues with these engines online from other owners. That definitely helped with my decision to sell it for an (arguably) much better engine and car in general.

We recently bought a Sandero stepway 110hp. Mostly the same block as this one but with other mapping I guess. Great little car. Dacia is doing well.

I have this engine in my duster.

It's great!

And to make things better, it's a timing chain!
Unlike ford with the eco boom 💥 wet belt design!!!

Keep up to your maintenance schedules and don't abuse the turbo, and this engine will look after you.

My 2022 Dacia Sandero Comfort TCe90 with its 6 speed manual gearbox is a nice, quiet & smooth running car. Great value. Decent little engine with enough power for the size of car & its use.

Ciao, approfitto della tua gentilezza. Ho notato che con questo motore quando sono in movimento poco prima di fermarmi, quando metto in in folle, i giri aumentano per poco sino a circa 1000 per poi riscendere al minimo. È un comportamento regolare controllato elettronicamente? Grazie

I had one in a rental car in Portugal. It is a very nice engine, performs very nicely, but would not have it in my own car, I doubt it lasts very long.

Ciao Javier, questo motore a me piace molto, lo ho nella clio ultima versione. Solo un disguido, spesso ricevo il messaggio "Livello Olio Rabboccare" ma verificando dall'Asta manualmente (lo hanno visto 3 meccanici) il livello è ok. Anche il meccanico ufficiale ha detto che è ok, poi il messaggio scompare e in officina mi dicono che devo andare da loro solo con il messaggio visualizzato altrimenti in diagnostica non lo vedono. Cosa potrei verificare? Grazie

I have been thinking of buying a used Dacia Logan but it worries me that most of them have this highly stressed engine. I just want a simple, reliable car, it does not need the best MPG as I only do about 5000km a year. I would go for the diesel version but I gather modern diesels also have reliability compromised by the pollution control technology.

How much hp and torque can we get from Stage 1 software if we apply it ? The engine is very enough in city traffics, but at the autobahn the car suffers a little bit because of low torque.Especially when you are fully loaded and 5 people in car with A/C on.

"There’s no replacement for displacement". American engineers were right. Downsizing is bullshit 😮. Mazda just released a good straight atmo 4 cylinders 2.5 liters. No turbo. Good consumption. Torque is OK and co2 émission also. That’s it. Regards from France.

Disagree with the deletion of belt tensioner. And 4 cylinders are more balanced than 3. It’s easier to stall a 3 cylinder in my experience. The old Dacia/Renault D4F 1.2 engine was ok just needed a turbo and taller 5th gear like the Fiesta to make it really good.

Javier, thanks for the video. I own clio 5 with this engine and I'm surprised how quickly this engine heats up. According to video the engine has separate cooling for the cylinder head and engine block with two thermostats. Can you explain briefly how the cooling system works that makes the engine to heat up so quickly? I wonder if the cooling fluid circulates from the start of the cold engine or it starts to circulate once the engine reaches some defined temperature?
