NEW UPDATE!! 4TH ANNIVERSARY REWARDS : FREE 4⭐ CHARACTER, FREE 4⭐ WEAPON & MORE - Genshin Impact

Genshin Impact usually celebrates its anniversary during every X.1 patch, but not this time. We will be celebrating the 4th anniversary of Genshin Impact in version 5.0 on September 28th. As you all know, version 5.0 is releasing on August 28th, and each update lasts for 42 days, so it's confirmed that Hoyoverse will celebrate Genshin's 4th anniversary in the second phase of the version 5.0 update.

Now, whenever you come across the term 'Genshin anniversary,' you will definitely think about two things: the rewards and the drama. Although the celebrations for the anniversary aren't nearly as grand as the Lunar New Year, we are treated with some extra Primogems and other in-game rewards during this period to make it worth the wait.

Hoyoverse has already revealed half of the rewards in the beta, and they are pretty much the same as last year. We are getting a 7-day login event where we will receive 10 intertwined fates and some other materials over the course of 7 days. I don't know whether this event will take place in phase one or phase two, but the rewards won't change. Other than this, we will also get a free 4-star character and a free 4-star catalyst weapon for Mualani as well. If you are a free-to-play player, then it won't change anything for you, but the crystal top-up bonus will reset after version 5.0, as it happens during every anniversary patch.

As for the other half of the rewards, they haven't revealed them yet, but they will definitely send us 4 mails which will contain 400 Primogems each, and some kind of pet and a gadget. And that's it. Don't expect anything more than this—no free 5-star selector or a free 5-star standard banner character. Don't expect anything else than what I just told you.

As you all know, Genshin Impact's past anniversary rewards have been highly controversial. Although players did not expect a lot from Hoyoverse, they were utterly disappointed during Genshin's first anniversary. The rewards for the first anniversary were horrible: they only gave us the 7-day login event and nothing else. It was so disappointing that players took their dissatisfaction to social media, and a huge number of people started review bombing Genshin Impact on the App Store and Play Store.

But Hoyoverse didn't do anything, and nothing changed. However, the rewards for the second anniversary weren't bashed as much as the first one. Even though some players complained about them as well, the general consensus was that the rewards were good enough, at least in retrospect from the past year. They sent us 1600 Primogems, a flying pet, and a gadget, and also gave us the 7-day login event.

They did the same thing last year as well, so I don't have a single ounce of hope that they will change it this year. I know that Wuthering Waves has released and they are continuously giving amazing rewards, but Wuthering Waves is a new game, so they will have to do it to attract more players. But Genshin? We would be fools to expect anything from Hoyoverse at this point.

as someone who's been playing since shortly after launch and has at least c2 of every standard banner character EXCEPT jean who i dont have a single copy of, the fact that they still refuse to even do a standard banner selector is really crazy to me (especially considering how much i doubt they received ANY money on the chronicled wish from people pulling for standard characters). It's not even greed at this point, it just seems like straight up stubbornness - like I am genuinely CERTAIN they'd make more money by actually fulfilling the wishes that players have had for literally 4 years now just because of the hype that would surround that.
The fact that Jean was the literal reason i got into the game in the first place too, it's really such a shame.

The thing about WuWa is that they’re giving out as many rewards that they do because it’s routine for them. They do the exact same as Punishing Gray Raven (their other game), and have given out several free S rank units too. As a PGR player I’ve experienced this firsthand, but the genuine shock that comes from Genshin players within the community towards WuWa’s ‘generosity’ is astonishing to me. Because it’s genuinely just another Tuesday for us PGR folk.

I don’t expect any free 5 star but don’t lose all hope ! Just because the old rewards were pretty much lower than trash they might start giving away more rewards and since they have WAY more competitors like Wuthering Waves, ZZZ, Honkai star rail, Neverness to Everness and Tianzi 76

If we're talking standard 5* characters for a selector, I'd be choosing between cons for Jean, Keqing or Qiqi. If weapons are included, I'd be choosing Skyward Blade. If we're considering any and all 5 stars, I'd be choosing either Klee, Nilou C1 (or higher if I'm lucky on the current rerun), Furina C1, Yelan (if I don't get her in 4.8), Xiao C1, Kazuha (if I'm unlucky in 5.0), Venti (if I'm unlucky on his next rerun), Nahida C1, Navia or Zhongli.

I feel that genshin is the only game that whatever they do, they will make people angry 😂

Free 5 standard banner selector so late in the game might make the old whalers/dolphins combust, while new players and f2p happy. No free 5* standard selector means f2p and new player bloods continue to boil, while the big spenders will shrug it off like its another wednesday.

Nowadays, i feel gacha games are more into WHOS MORE GENEROUS than which game is more fun. Like if a game gave you free 5* selector + 100 pulls, thats automatically the best game and these ppl will mock the lesser generous games and its community. I cant help but feel people are just being greedy pricks who enjoys a "generous" game instead of a "good" game.

Maybe its bc i have played far "stingier" games such as the JP gacha game (they dont have pity system back then, welcoming rewards is like 10-30 pulls, no free 5* selector). I do understand that the community feels less appreciated due to less rewards, but also, if you are an f2p, you never buy the game's official merch...i feel that you have done nothing but yap and being angry at the game and the company, which is a waste of your energy and time (tbh this rant is also wasting my time). If this game cant make you happy, and always make you angry, perhaps its a good time to leave the game behind despite all your "f2p" investments. I did that to an online game i have played for like 5 years as f2p (bc the company turns their game into p2w), it was hard at first but now, i dont even bother and move on with my life.

For 5 stars, i would probably pick kazuha or jean since im lacking healers for furina and maybe neuvilette if i can farm marecheusse domain consistently and his boss drop
