The scariest thing about this is that large multinational corporations are on the record saying that access to fresh water is not a human right. This is serious.

Water is essential for life. We all should be paying attention.

One lesson from Australia: No water, no life.

Also another lesson: Treating water as a commodity is not a good idea.

We need to work on, as a species, effective, sustainable and large scale, methods of desalination and other ways to improve water supplies.

The 1% make money off scarcity. They encourage it.

Just spent 3 years living in Jakarta. Rich people buy bottled water, the majority of people, drink essentially sewage. It is seen as normal. I see America is deciding that is ok.

"Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness..." are now privileges granted out by the nobility to loyal followers. Funny how we used to say they were rights.

I still remember when they started selling bottle water! I laughed about it then! Who will pay for free water? Boy I feel silly now

I'd like to point people interested in water rights to the violations of sacred Navajo and Hopi land and water (and treaties, and people) by mining companies and the US government. A good place to read about it is in the book Recovering The Sacred by Winona LaDuke.

I’m Canadian we call ourselves First Nations here. I’m Nakoda Sioux and our elders have long ago predicted water is going to be used for profit, they have said that when we get to the time when water is not free anymore we are heading into uncertain and hard times in our world. Especially environmental wise. I was told about this prediction when I was just a kid by my father I’m not sure how long ago the prediction was made but our elders saw it coming.

Nestle's been stealing it out the Puget Sound and the Great Lakes for years and selling it for huge profits.

I’ve been an environmental scientist for 30+ years. Tried to get folks engaged for that long. Out west they’ve had water trouble for centuries. Here in the Midwest, it’s not a problem. Yet. But, there are plans for the Great Lakes to be the next water source for the western states. Never made sense to me to develop cities in deserts.

I am surrounded by 95% of the U.S. fresh water, yet people in my state still need clean water, nestle pays $200 for the right to pump 130 million gallons for sale.

👋🏾Add: The Selling of and buying of water in the world was the single most depressing fact that changed my view of the world as a teenager.

I recently retired from a municipal water service departmen, in Texas.
You would not believe how much water is wasted watering lawns.
I was in charge of high water usage investigations for 20 years and it was always the same case of over watering.
Customers would complain about how high their bill was and they would not believe that watering "only twice a week" could raise a bill so high. In almost all cases, they were over watering, some had faulty sprinkler systems, others just didn't care, but still wanted a reduced rate, " because the meter is faulty".
I pissed-off a lot of people with evidence, facts and knowledge. Needless to say, half of my customers were glad to see me leave.🙂

It's why I sold my house in a California wildfire zone and bought a former horse pasture with an 18 gallon per minute well. I'm digging swales to recharge the aquifer and starting a permaculture food forest.

Since July 1st, locally, our watershed has received 3.4" of rain. Last year by this date, 10.6". The wildfires last summer were horrendous. They're going to be even worse next year. We're under a red flag warning as I write this. Which is supposed to be our rainy season. While Trump tells us climate change is a "hoax". The asshole fiddles while the world burns.

More people need to hear your content. You're a sobering voice in the Kaos that is American politics and basic Patriotism. God Bless you and Keep fighting the Good Fight.

Being a resident of a Great lakes state....companies like nestle have already started tapping into fresh water and its negatively impacting the state and the community.
