There have been so many great groups that have played at the proms, check out Chicago and Toto just for starters. Great reaction buddy.

This is a song that was one of my absolute favourites in the 1970’s, I loved John Miles. This took me back to a very happy place, thanks.

I've not heard this song for quite a while but loved this orchestral version, so thanks for sharing another great recording from the Proms.

I have had the album 'Rebel' in every car that I have owned since 1976 (46 Years ago)! - Cassettes, CDs and MP3s - It still turns heads at Traffic Lights!

I saw John Miles in concert over 40 years ago. The main difference to this performance was that he sat at the piano with an electric guitar on his lap. When he got to the guitar solo he jumped up, killed it and sat back down at the piano to play the rest of the song. Nice to hear you do something else than Queen bud.

Real music with passion, power and emotion. That sums music up. Written by a genius. John claims he wrote it in half an hour. Get to me emotionally every time sending me to heaven every time. An escape of bliss, from a mad world for a short while. John was born in Durham in the North East of The Uk. I have been there. Close to Newcastle another great place. I love how it blows people away on first hearing. A timeless masterpiece unsurpassed, in a world mostly, of the emotionless din of today's mass-produced stuff. Well done dude. RIP John.

John has been one of my favourite musicians since the early 1970's. This was his breakthrough composition. It is a staple of the Proms in continental Europe and a real crowd pleaser as you can see. John was also musical director for Tina Turner for a number of years and you can see him playing on stage with her in many you tube clips. He had a unique and exceptional talent that will be sadly missed. Thankfully his Music will always live on and stir hearts and souls for years to come...

I’d forgotten about this. The audience knows it v well. They do these modern music concerts every year at the proms. The music from the musical films and shows is great as well. They invite lots of American singers to do the songs eg Seth MacFarlane - who can really sing! But the traditional stuff is terrific too.

R.I.P. Mr. Music.
What a talent. When you consider there was basically 1 verse, and he turned that one verse into a song of epic proportions. Incredible.
I'm well into my 70's now, and probably not much longer for this world, and as an ex-musician for most of my life I've left instructions for this to be played on the conclusion of my funeral.
Thanks for posting.
