I was waiting for this ever since interbridge let me know he was coming. I could listen to this man forever. The way he talks with his heart is just something else.

Funny he mentions day drinking at a matinee because that’s exactly what I was doing when I saw him 😂😂 the schnapps as you come in were awesome but those bar drinks were STRONG!!! And his was the longest/loudest entrance applause I’ve experienced!! The lights went up on him and you just heard one big scream

Having performed the roll of the MC myself many times, and as an acting/musical theatre coach I was skeptical at first at the new production with Eddie, as I admit I'm married to the more darker German expressionist revival with Alan Cumming which is the version I have performed. But after seeing Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club in the new revival... I thought it was just brilliant! For those who haven't made it to NYC to the August Wilson theatre.. The experience is immersive, childlike surreal and disturbing. Sadly most Americans have never picked up a novel in their life or heard of Christopher Isherwood, or seen previous versions like the original with Jill Haworth and Joel Grey, the movie version with Liza/Joel or other revivals. The thoughtful symbolism and immersive experience are jar dropping. The painted eyes everywhere like of the voyeuristic symbolism .. like who is being watched? The actors? or the audience? The experience is so intimate. I love that you even enter through a side entrance through bizarre mazes of corridors and bars before you get to the actual stage/theatre. It is fab! What makes this version even more disturbing is its childlike fantasy. Eddie as a harlequin Pierrot Lunnaire M.C. and Sally performing "Dont' Tell Mama" in baby doll outfit makes the symbolism even more disturbing.. Childlike loss of innocence, in a depraved/grotesque nightmare. Eddie was fabulous. And also so sweet, humble and endearing to the fans. I just watched his interview with Jimmy Fallon and laughed when he was teaching Jimmy the choreo to Wilkommen .. and said "now tickle the balls" LOL. Yep where can one go to see a Broadway show and get their balls tickled. LOL. Most of my NYC Broadway friends which include members of the Alan Cumming revival cast ... all loved it. I agree and was so delighted Eddie was nominated for the Tony for this role. Well deserved. I also loved that when you walk into the theatre you are offered a German Schnapps LOL. You really do feel you stepped back to 1928 Weimar Berlin. The only thing missing were the ability to pick up a German blonde rent boy named Dieter before the show LOL.

I have gone from an inexplicable instantaneous dislike of Redmayne to abject adoration. He won me over by his performances and a handful of charming interviews. I consider that the mark of a consummate artist and stellar human being.

Cabaret was one of the first musicals I'd ever seen.
My dance teacher was a cast member and I went to see it when I was 11 years old!
and I was just hooked from that point on I got to be on stage!!!
That's my new home!
