After nine years of losing out on the world's best airline award, Singapore Airlines is back on top. CNBC's Xin En Lee finds out what it takes to train the Singapore Girl and build a successful airline.

After hearing about how great Singapore Airlines is, we had to book our flight to Singapore with them. The last time I flew with them must've been more than ten years ago. First of all, I love how they always provide hot, steaming towels before serving every meal. I like the Book the Cook feature as it gives me some control over the kind of food I'm served. You will never go hungry with SQ. They provide choice of sandwiches (hot ones, not just cold deli), snacks (chips, nuts), dried fruit (mango), ice cream, etc. in between meals. We lost a small adapter for our phone and were looking for it, when lo and behold, one of the flight attendants had found it and was looking for its owner. They bothered to take the extra effort for something this insignificant. Amazing airline indeed!

Fourteen weeks?! American flight attendants get three to six weeks of training, and it shows.

Madam Foo Juat Fang is the best you could get as a TRAINER! Her calm and respectful demeanour says it all! I've seen her many times training the Cabin Crew in many documentaries, AMAZING! Thank you for your service, Madam Foo!

The professor is absolutely correct. No correlation at all between service and profitability. In the US witness the growth of truly crappy, deplorable airlines like Spirit, and the disappearance of airlines that actually cared about customer service, Virgin America. US passengers complain the loudest in the world about our crappy airline service, but they tell us over and over again that we’re giving them exactly what they want - cramped seats, no legroom, no food, no amenities, and minimal service from irate, grumpy and burned out flight attendants. How do we know that this is exactly what passengers want - they keep filling up our airplanes to the point that we’re leaving passengers behind at the gate, for as long as we offer the lowest, absolute rock bottom airfare. That’s ALL that matters.

I have flown both and I definitely will day without a doubt that Singapore is the best. The airport is small but large enough for a longer layover making it good for shppping and easy to get around. Dubai is too big it is just too large to get around and the people are angry. I haven’t seen anybody smile at the airport in Dubai because everyone is scared of being arrested for looking the wrong way. The service on Singapore is outstanding however on emirates it really is the bare minimum. Overall they are both good airlines however Singapore is that tier better.

"Sarong kebaya".. Indonesian will claim it as their heritage later on and acting like they are the only country on the earth that having a various kind of heritage and culture. Just like what they did to the Malaysian culture and heritage, they claimed it all.

I am a Singaporean and I never really fly Singapore airlines anymore why they treat their own Singapore customers like shit compare to foreigners. If I need premium airline I ironically go for the emirate and ANA that feature in the video
