DECEPTION | Christina Grimmie (Side A EP)

The "Ballad of Jessica Blue" is retro styled narrative and music video short film.

The story follows a young girls journey into self-discovery through her love life, her womanhood and her music. "Jessica" is at a crossroads in her life. She becomes suspicious of her boyfriend and is gripped by insecurities only to realize that she is doing more damaged to her own heart and future than any relationship ever could. Jessica has an upcoming showcase where she hopes to prove to herself and others that her music is as strong as her desire to be great. With the showcase days away she can't seem to put together her set or her songs. Jessica is torn between boyfriend issues, her creative issues and a general feeling of self-doubt. She confides in the people closest to her and they all give her words of wisdom along her path of self-discovery. Her beloved grandmother reminds her that all the security, strength and love she needs is in that powerful voice on the other side of her heart. Jessica finds her path by doing what she loves. She sings from her heart.

I've been watching Christina since 2009. The fact that she was taken from us due to a selfish man is absolutely heart wrenching. She was my favorite singing Youtuber and she was killed 30 minutes away from my house. I've even drove by the concert venue she was shot at. It's so hard to swallow still, but I bet she is still singing in heaven. R.I.P Christina.

I had a dream last night that the government faked her death, and I was outside sitting on my porch and she ran up to me with biggest smile and told me not to worry cause she is happy nowl. she helped me do alot of house work and we washed my car together. after all she told me she'll be back then she ran off and faded in distance and I woke and started crying.

I really hope this doesn't end with an unhappy ending, especially since the final song is probably the saddest :(. We'll have to wait and see.
Still can't believe Christina is gone, but I absolutely love how these videos make it seem like she's still here with us. All her music will still be here touching lives, and that's something truly incredible.

She made these videos in advance and they were supposed to be released as a story but she dies before they could execute the plan. so instead of releasing them back to back they are releasing one every month in her memory.

I believe I do speak on behalf of all of us when I say that Christina's faithful departure has left us desvastated and disheartened. The world truly is a darker place without her. After all, no candle can replace the sun once it has set.
While I cannot possibly know for certain, I like to think that Christina wouldn't have wanted us to pass weeks, months or years even, in mourning. Far from it!
So let us not devote ourselves to cursing the darkness but to looking for the silver lining instead.

On several occasions Christina has let us know just how much she loved Team Grimmie and how grateful she was for her amazing fanbase.

I wanted to see if those papers were something just randomly thrown into the shots, so I paused the video a couple of times when you got closeups of the falling papers. I really wanted to start crying when I read the lyrics to "Ugly" and "My Anthem". Knowing that Christina held on to the original copies of her lyrics really warms my heart as a writer and a fan. I'm so glad to see this, even if it took five years to notice. What a wonderful little easter egg. I wish I could clearly make out every page, but just knowing the power contained on those pages is enough to make me smile. Whoever came up with this idea, thank you, and thank you Christina for being so willing to have this in your video. You rawwk.
