North NJ/NY here, black and white cookies are a dense, flat but slightly domed cake with semi- hard/set black and white frosting on the flat side. It is NOT a sugar cookie. Anyone who says it is a crunchy cookie has never had a real one. Cake version is real version.

As a life long New Yorker black and white cookies are definitely a cake like cookie with the tiniest hint of lemon almost undetectable but oh so yummy

Just backing up what everyone is saying as another born and raised New Yorker--you'll only ever find a cake-like black-and-white cookie in NY. NEVER a sugar-cookie. In NY, it's common to find a sugar cookie with a drop of chocolate in the middle, but the actual black-and-white frosted is always a cake type. Can't wait to try these in a couple weeks!

Late to the comment section but I had to add in my two cents. Black-and-white cookies are absolutely supposed to be cake like, even over on the West Coast. They’re the same in LA as they are in New York

I’m literally at wdw right now on the free dining plan and I gotta say this festival is great for using your snack credits! So many dishes worth $8 are snack credit eligible. My husband and I hoarder a couple of days worth of snacks for this
