This is the song that played at my papa's funeral when my dad was 17. I'm gonna play it for him for Father's day in honor of my papa. Your tutorial helped tremendously. Thank you so much. Love from Ohio.

Back in 1995 I toured San Quentin State Prison in California where Merle Haggard was incarcerated in the 1950's. At the time, the gas chamber was still being used. I walked into the gas chamber and was invited to sit in the chair where many men were put to death beginning in 1938. I didn't sit in the chair but saw it up close as a prison official described the execution process. Unlike the prisoner described in this song, I was blessed to have walked out with my life unharmed. This song adds much more meaning to what I saw at San Quentin State Prison. Thanks for the lesson; it's my favorite song by Merle Haggard.

I see you played 5th fret for the E in the into. It would be easier to play the open High E string
