Russian President Vladimir Putin declared martial law in the Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions of Ukraine which Moscow recently annexed.

Russian President Vladimir Putin declared martial law Wednesday in the four regions of Ukraine that Moscow illegally annexed as Ukraine troops continue their unrelenting drive to retain control of the occupied territories.

Putin provided few details of what martial law would entail, but restrictions on travel and public gatherings, tighter censorship and broader authority for law enforcement agencies are likely.

Putin also gave additional emergency powers to the Russia-appointed heads of the Donetsk, Kherson, Luhansk and Zaporizhzhia regions. Ukrainian troops have retaken land in all four of the regions. Putin also ordered the establishment of a Coordination Committee to increase interaction between government agencies in dealing with his struggling “special military operation.”

Great analysis on the effects of the Ukraine war has on European energy security and effect on European economy. Russia is nickered as sanctions will hit every sector of their economy including as you mentioned their short fall in their budget due to falling natural gas prices. The fall of Russia will be greater than that of the Soviet Union. Russia will not be able to recover since almost all western companies have withdrawn from doing business in Russia. Russia will be running out of parts of every kind and skilled expertise due to half a million Russians leaving. This is a total collapse which a nuclear bomb will not solve but make it worse since remaining countries supporting Russia will have to rethink their ties. Putin is the best thing that the west could have hoped for. Putin managed to unite Europe, US, the global community and NATO, reduce carbon foot print in Europe and globally, helped add 2 more countries to NATO and increase defence spending by 2 percent. Quite an achievement in only 10 months which many other politicians paid lip service but failed to achieve. Putin also managed to make Kim Jun Un look good in comparison. He has almost single handed perpetrate genocide using WMD murdering civilians, rape of women in a "special operation" and threaten nuclear football being a sore looser.
