Hey guys! Which Mean Girls did you like? 2004, 2024, or both?

You don’t need to be offensive to be funny, like c’mon. But when writers who only know how to write offensive comedy suddenly switch up, much of the humor becomes lost because they don’t know how be funny without the use of that kind of humor. Also, the Plastics are supposed to be stupid, self-centered, and ignorant, so comedy surrounding their characters should be on the offensive side.

2004 version definitely beats the 2024 version. Can’t believe it’s been 20 years though!? 🤯

This video is very true, and I do agree; the new adaptation doesn’t hold a candle to the original film, neither the broadway musical. What the original did well was everything, and the broadway musical wasn’t trying to be the film, but rather a different way to tell the same story, making it very successful among musical theatre fans, which is obviously a more niche audience. This film falls somewhere in between the two, not quite a film, teetering on the edge of being a musical and therefore hangs in this grey area which is neither good nor bad. Tina Fey and Renne Rapp reprising the roles of ms.Norbury and Regina were welcome: they both played their character well, and were some of the best in the film. I though Damian and Janis were good as well, although not as memorable as the originals, which I out down to the script being more flat and a lack of screen time. Gretchen and Karen did have good chemistry, and I thought “What’s wrong with me” was done very well, although obviously this Gretchen was not the original, I didn’t think she was bad either, more memorable than cady and less so than Regina. I personally enjoyed Karen’s performance, I thought her far off look was overused though, she seemed to fall back on it a little too much when in an ensemble type role and it just got boring, but when the camera was focusing on her she always did well, and I thought “Sexy” was one of the best numbers in the film. Aaron was nothing; not particularly attractive, which is half his character, not funny, and clearly not a good singer, as he didn’t utter a single not the entire duration. The worst casting was undoubtedly Cady though, Angourie is a good actor, but she is clearly not suited to a musical. The prediction seemed like it was trying to be more “relatable” which they did through slowing down songs like “stupid with love”, whereas they should’ve just cast a good singer. I also think that “Revenge Party” was poor on her part, although I did like it, and I thought replacing “it roars” was a bad attempt to cover up how weak she is vocally. Overall, there were good moments in the film, and some actors were very gifted, but it is definitely the worst out of the film, musical, and adaptation, although it’s infinitely better than mean girls 2.

I just watched the movie, and tbh i think it's kind of hard to compare it to the og. Songs were great, very fun movie as long as you dont take it seriously! Perfect flick for friends

It's the second attempt of doing something like it (Mean Girls original) again but it's pathetic. First with Mean Girls 2. And now this, an annoying musical. Mean Girls (the original) always imitated but no one can reach their level.
