I bought me a second pair of the keen san jose like a month after because I liked them so much, first pair gave me some problems for a bit till they actually formed to my feet then they were solid. My second pair I used for work as my daily, Welder in a prefab shop and on hard concrete shop floor and great support all day!

I like boots with a shank and a thick heel when working on an exterior, the shank prevents my foots arch from getting sore and the heel will lock my boot in place on extension ladders. Interiors, I wear running shoes because I prefer to be light on my feet, and the only place I wear those shoes are inside customers houses.

Great video! Footwear is so dang important and no one talks about it... until now. Weight is everything. Just gotta have a couple different pairs to cover the work you do.

I do yard work in some old Salomons. I like that they gave a hard tread.

Reebok Sublite Athletic work shoes are great. Lightweight and composite toe. Switch the laces out and converted them to slip on”s. Going to try the Salomons. The San Jose’s are awesome too. Thanks again for all the info you put out Chris.

I can't wear a steal toe shoes or boots. I found years ago that heavy boots with steal toed played havoc on the lower lumbar area of my spine. So unfortunately if a company required steal toe boots I had no choice but to resign my skill set. Took away that common denominator and Bam...no spine issues. I have to have a light boot. Dragging aroung those heavy suckers were slowley killing me for my bone frame. Lol. Hope that made sense. Same as heals. I prefer a wedge sole. High girly Heald killed my lumbar region.
Lol. Took away the 2" heals, back to comfort all day. Paint on..

I used to ware Wolverines, then just generic boots, now when I'm painting for myself I ware ASICS gel mid-tops, in grey. They are really lightweight, breathable, and supportive, and they can even work on a ladder without digging into the foot thanks to having an extra support piece in the middle of the sole. And they manage to look somewhat professional still imo, compared to say some black Nike's... They do ware out after about a year though. I will still ware boots though if I'm working for another painter lol.

Some nice shoes and boots. I see a couple of those there that I might like for nonwork. But I too have worn boots, cross trainers, running shoes, walking shoes and everything in between trying to find the right shoes for roofs (I've been on thousands...gutter cleaning and pressure washing). The best shoes I have worn for comfort and traction are running shoes with certain carbon rubber soles. Not durable over time, but comfortable, light and absolutely the best traction and flexibility on roofs and even ladders. About the only shoes I haven't tried are Cougar Paws but they are a boot style and not flexible enough I think for my use, though for painters I could see they could work well. Not sure how much they weigh.

I got me a bonanza pair of boots. Very comfortable and cool looking.

The best boots I have used are the Birks Defender Kevlar boots, more or less bulletproof.

Sucks spraying everyday and trying to keep a decent pair of shoes without them looking like crap.

My san jose soft toes are what I paint in everyday I love them. And I bought a pair of the indestructible shoes when they first came out and yes they're the worst shoe I've ever put on lol
