Показать описание
To harvest and store chestnuts, shake the nuts out of the tree using a broom handle, dry them out naturally in the sun for a few days, and store them in a paper bag. Keep chestnuts for years, roasting them for a winter treat, with advice from a sustainable gardener in this free video on gardening.

can you freeze them? Is that what you are describing at the end, with the jars?

I'd love to know if she's actually managed to store the chestnuts for a long time herself, or can do a video on it.  All info I've found so far suggests that it is really difficult to store them without mould creeping in.  Need a fullproof method

Too many different opinions on the internet. The last video I saw stated do not let chestnuts dry out and better to hose them off and get into cold storage. He was a commercial grower. I shook my tree and down came nuts and husks together. Does this mean I won't get chestnuts next year? Do I boil them or roast them? Can I eat them raw?

Hmm thanks but waiting this long only works if you have no squirrels, birds or other critters that love these things. I have to harvest mine while they are still green or there are no chestnuts. These nuts are light brown when harvested, not the deep dark brown yours are. Hoping they can "ripen"

Wow - this is like so elementary - it is of no help at all - just a lot of bumbling talking .... Sigh

So many wrong things with her presentation. “Covers”? They’re called husks or burs! And knocking them off the tree won’t allow for nuts next year? Lunacy.
