Yoon Jung-min has our top story.
South Korean President Moon Jae-in is on Thursday expected to speak over the phone with U.S. President-elect Joe Biden...for the first time since the U.S. Presidential Election.
Moon has already congratulated Biden via Twitter and in comments during a Blue House meeting, but it will be their first official communication.
Moon and Biden are likely to discuss the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula,... and the Korean peace process.
Also likely to be on the agenda are issues related to the Seoul-Washington alliance, including economic cooperation,... as well as tackling the COVID-19 pandemic.
Moon earlier said that he will communicate closely with the Joe Biden camp on various fronts... and will make sure there is no break in the Korean Peninsula peace process.
President Moon on Wednesday held a luncheon with senior foreign affairs advisors at the Blue House,... including former national security director Chung Eui-yong, as well as various academic scholars.
The agenda included foreign policy in light of any changes under a new U.S. administration, Seoul-Washington cooperation including working together against the COVID-19 pandemic and the Korean peace process.
On Tuesday, South Korea's foreign minister Kang Kyung-wha was in Washington to meet with lawmakers close to Joe Biden.
There, she stressed the importance of Pyeongyang and Washington resuming talks and emphasized that North Korea and the U.S. should prioritize establishing summit-level dialogue.
Kang met with Democratic Senators, Chris Coons and Chris Murphy.
Some U.S. media speculate that they have been floated as potential candidates for Secretary of State.
Kang also met with the president of the Brookings Institution, John Allen who is expected to deliver Seoul's stance on Korean Peninsula issues to the President-elect.
During her stay, Kang also met with the current White House National Security Advisor Robert O'Brien... and with current Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.
