Money is not evil, it is a tool. However, the love of money for its own sake, is the root of all kinds of evil. When people want money just to have money, they are willing to do things they should not do, just so they can get more money. That is what is bad, not the money itself.

You illustrated this quite well by showing the difference between building a business and just wanting money. Those who are building a business are using the tools of the trade (money) to build something that produces value for others. People who just want money place themselves in a precarious position and temptation to simply love money for money's sake.
