You can also compare it to the Battle of Britain in 1940. Churchill started to bomb Hamburg when Britain was close to defeat by Nazi Germany. Hitler responded by bombing London instead of the British military airfields. If Hitler would have not reacted emotionally, it is likely Nazi Germany had won the Battle of Britain. Luckily, Hitler reacted like Putin.
So, Ukraine is doing well by keep attacking the key military targets and not get distracted by attacking civilian infrastructure in Russia.
