How to Get Started With Your New 10.25” TFT Display With Connectivity

Learn in this video how to operate the new 10.25" TFT Display premiered on the BMW R 1250 RT.

By turning the Multi-Controller, depending on what menu you are in, you can change the volume, zoom in and out in the map and scroll in lists. By tilting the Multi-Controller, depending on what menu you are in, you can select a menu, adjust settings, activate checkboxes and activate or deactivate the splitscreen function. By pressing the MENU rocker button up or down, you can switch between the menus and toggle through the content you wish to see in the top status line.

Apple CarPlay and Android Auto would be the best option, and yes I know the BMW Connectivity app and integration add functionality not present with the phone-based standards, but they just work.

I am happy to see volume controlled by the multi controller, regardless of the comm. device on our helmet. I have 2020 GSA and do not use connection because I do not hear my phone and can not control the volume unless I have BMW comm. device installed on my Helmet. I am waiting this TFT on GSA and already informed my dealer that I am going to trade in as soon as it is available.

I hope the reliability of the Bluetooth on this is better than the current tft. You literally roll a dice every time you turn the bike on. Sometimes everything connects ok, other times it’s forgotten you had a phone or headset or both connected. Sometimes it does not talk to the app so no navigation or speed limits.

Have you sorted out the connectivity issues? Really concerned that maps have to come from the app. I have 2019 gsa and it’s been back to the dealer 6 times as the connectivity works but continually freezes. The dealership have said there is nothing they can do and it is due to the interference to the Bluetooth signal created by the bike itself. I’m keen to swap to the rt but need reassurance this will work.

Hi, This is great, but in my opinion it is urgent that you decide to opt for illuminated control buttons, even if there is good ergonomics ! 😉✌🏽

Navigation system still can not use in Japan! Even other motorcycle brands has. It is really important to have Navigation on touring model.

Should I have to re-connect wi-fi manually every time I switch off? If I stop for fuel I have to get my phone out again and re-connect Maps which is not handy.

I wish BMwee had an option to customise the screen like in phones ...I’d very much like an analog look alike screen and yes Netflix streaming whilst in park mode 😅

if one buys a $20, 000-25, 000 machine from BMW such as a BMW GS with TFT there is minimal/no maintenance done on the TFT software/firmware by BMW . All you get from dealers is a blank stare and if you are lucky an offer to take your bike in for a week to see if they can reproduce the issue. TFT, on board network/communication is an integral part of the machine, rider safety and a large part of the value proposition to upgrading to a modern motorcycle at a high expense. Try to configure a helmet communication system (or watch a video) - it is literally rocket science and there is no reason the intrinsic features such as voice control of your phone or radio transmitters of your senna/cardo cant work with it. Getting to a good place with software iterates at a much faster rate than the hardware of a motorcycle which took a 100 years to get to where they are. But yet displays are not consumer updatable and its not a problem as BMW is not addressing connection and functional issues at a rapid Please fix it. I don't plan on spending another $25000 to fix my display, and I would caution any buyer to be thoughtful of these issues prior to buying a TFT BMW.

Its annoying that on the top display you can only have one readout ie fuel gauge and you have to press menu up to change it but you cannot have multiple info.

This bar has more buttons than my warthog Hotas in DCS... "Can enhaaaance your riding experience", I doubt it... It makes you even more gaze on the Display. Like IFR Flight... Its pure mathematics: If all your awareness is lets say 10 Dollars, you already spend 3 Dollars on the Display and the fancy switches.
