If you have a Korky toilet fill valve that keeps running, cleaning or replacing the top cap and seal usually solves the problem. I show the steps to remove and clean the cap and seal.

The water company has been threatening to turn off our water for constant usage! I am so thankful I found your video. Tried adjusting numerous times and no luck. Thanks for explaining this. The old ball floats were so much easier 😅

Finally found a video about this unusual internal flow valve.

I am visiting my parents and heard the flow of water coming from the bathroom. So I lifted the toilet tank lid off and noticed the flow valve was positioned too high to shut off properly. So I looked up instructions on how to adjust: turn counter clockwise, depress to desired depth, turn clockwise to relock into position.

So I did that, and the water kept flowing over and into the overflow tube. After several attempts to adjust it with the same result, I realized there must be something else going on.

So I tried turning it slightly out of the lock position (counter clockwise), but not enough to release it and allow the height to be adjusted.

Flushed, and the water shut off precisely where I wanted it to: 1 inch below overflow tube intake.

I'm guessing from time to time after many uses the valve wiggles loose and pops up out of position and has to be adjusted again.

I didn't bother opening the valve housing to check the gasket for debris, because it is working, just not in the complete lock position.

Any thoughts on why it only works slightly out of lock position? Have you ever encountered this problem?

At any rate it is now blissfully quiet and I can sleep.

Thank you for the informative video.

YESSS!!! 😁😁😁Thank you! I got the float thingie off but I did not take it to the next step. Had to use my Leatherman pliers like a spanner wrench to get it loose. I'm part of a 630 acre subdivision of earthship style homes that use greywater to flush the toilet so the flush water is "living water" that has all kinds of protozoa that form biofilms on the surfaces in the toilet. I took a toothbrush and cleaned off the hard deposits on the red rubber gasket and I also pulled out the 1/2" diameter inner tube and cleaned that with a toothbrush as well. Now it works just like NEW!!!! 😁😁😁
