Absolutely one of the best General the Armies we have ever had and I'm blown away by somebody who rises to that rank and becomes president.

My grandfather said he was called the do nothing president. That wasn't true. The interstate highways we use today were his idea.

Probably the most underrated President. A lot of things Kennedy gets credit for were actually started under him.

I Like Ike.
His biggest triumph was SHAEF and managing those Major general egos.
I can only imagine between Monty and Patton, keeping cool must of been very hard indeed. Thank God for Kate to help him stay sane.

He attended college at West Point, he attended the Command and General Staff College at Fort Leavenworth as a Captain.

Most jacked-up piece of modern military history ever packed into 60 seconds, He did not "attend college in Ft. Levenworth KS as an aid to John Pershing"! Pathetic.

Worth noting. Eisenhower absolutely refused to send troops into Vietnam. Of course Kennedy made it known that by the end of 1964 he would pull all American service members out of Vietnam. But on the day if John Kennedy's funeral Johnson signed the directive approving the escalation if our envolvement. Eisenhower called it right.

Growing up in Chicago in the 50’s, I was displaced by the construction of the Kennedy Expressway construction. This was started in 1956, we lived near Noble & Division St. (Holy Trinity Church), we moved to Charleston & Hoyne Sts. (St. Hedwig Church). Dad bought a house that needed some work. It had an old barn in the back of the lot. He tore it down and built a 1 car garage. They were tearing down houses, etc. and making a roadway for the new expressway. My dad used some of the scrap materials to build his garage and a brick fence around our garbage cans. My brother, friends and myself played in these buildings, it was so much fun. Later in life I realized how great was that roadway, when I drove the aitobahns thru out Europe. Our Interstate systems have shoulders to change a tire or at least somewhere to get off the road if you have a problem, the autobahns do not. Maybe they have changed this, last time I drove them was 1998. I consider this the best thing that Eisenhower did for the people of the USA. Jim
