As a DC native I would love to be a part of this

One interesting site in DC is the Old Pension Building. The location of Lincolns' Inaugural ball. At the time it was the largest indoor venue in the city.
And don't forget the 3 huge Tiffany windows on display in the Old Red Cross building down by the Mall.

Sounds cool. As a resident of the DC area already, might there be a package without lodging?

Having been blessed with a lifelong profession that included traveling the world, I always get a kick out of how many folks chime in telling you where you need to go and what to be sure to see 😂
Just back from a month long RV’ing out west trip introducing my Brazilian wife to this great country and finally had to tell the peanut gallery that we already visited more sights than most of them have, or will ever, see.
Thank you History Guy for putting this fine trip together!! We are checking our schedules now and hope to be a part of this.

This is a great opportunity if you can swing it.
As former FFA member from SD, I had the pleasure of attending a conference in the DC area with many other FFA members from all across this great nation. Even though we had some structured leadership seminars that we attended, about half the time of our week long stint, we were toured around all the great sights of the area, many of which Lance has mentioned. 40 years have passed since I was given this opportunity, but it remains a highlight of my youth and my life.

My Colonial ancestor, Thomas, Stone, knew George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin, Samuel Adams, Paul Revere, and all the other Founding Fathers.

I'm a part of History. 1982-1984 Beirut. Pull in to Annapolis, then to DC spent two days going through the Smithsonian. Still didn't get through it all the way. There's was 5 generations in my family. I've lived History since 1896 to present and I'm just 62. Hell yes I'd like to have fun again.

The Smithsonian museums are an amazing resource, and a half day (or less) doesn't even scratch the surface. I highly recommend that participants make arrangements to stay for an extra couple of days on their own to visit the museums. Taking a trip out to the Udvar-Hazy campus of the Air and Space Museum (near Dulles Airport - IAD) is worth it, since most of the best exhibits are too big to fit in the DC building. (Also, one non-free museum that always entertains is the Spy Museum, not far from the National Mall.)

Any especially ambitious historians should keep in mind that huge amounts of colonial history is just a couple hours south in the area, and most of the huge Civil War battles were fought in Virginia north of Richmond. Gettysburg isn't that far away, either.

I did a day trip on a Sunday before 9/11, was fantastic....carry a handkerchief while visiting "The Wall", you very well may need it....

Currently, there's more than history that's proving its ability to be dense in that area. It would be enriching to stay for more than a month in such a majestic place to soak up so much of the history Washington, DC has to offer.

Dr. History Guy, I hope you were able to fit Gunston Hall and George Mason into your trip! After all, where would we be without things such as the Fairfax Resolves and the Virginia Declaration of Rights and his fight to try to end Slavery at the Constitutional Convention? It sounds exciting, and I wish all of you a safe and pleasant time and I too am a born and raised DCer. History here in Virginia, has been purposefully forgotten. Good luck sir! Your work is excellent!

Why was George shaking his head? Mate I'd love to be there because I've loved history since I was 2 years old and my grandmother read history stories to 6 or 7 of us when we all slept in her bed. All my cousins and sister on holidays. Thanks mate I love your videos.

I assume you've been to the area before, as well as have some familiarity with the pace of the tour. Would someone in a wheelchair (I can walk with varying degrees of difficulty) have trouble keeping up on their own?

If I live in northern Virginia can I meet you at some of your destinations?

I'd be interested in a tour of a state or two on the high plains.
The Dakota's
Montana and Wyoming
Oklahoma and Kansas
Texas
I'm planning a week and a half in the Dakota's for 2026.
