Citation 1SP owner/pilot here and I fly it multiple times each week. I have over 6900 hours and the entire reason I bought my 501 was to avoid the cost of hiring a copilot which is a huge expense and inconvenience. If they do away with the SPW, I'll be forced to sell and my income will decrease severely. I don't mind increased standards in order to get the waiver but doing away with it makes no sense to me.

Yes you have to fly any plane “all the time”, but the margins of error in a jet are much smaller. Flying efficiently at altitude means you are always close to coffin corner. The faster speeds mean everything comes much quicker on arrival, approach and departure. While automation can be your co-pilot in normal circumstances, pilots always have to be able to handle mishaps, failures and external events. And, GA pilots just don’t have the hours of a commercial pilot, and that makes a big difference. I find many GA pilots tend to underestimate risk while striving for the dream.

If I win the lottery, I'm going to take a serious look at the Epic E1000GX.
You can travel faster than some current light jets while using less fuel.

How are you going to get good enough if you don 't do it?

"Jet driver", REALLY ! ! ! ! 😮😮😮

If I were good enough, I still don’t want to go alone. Why? Unless I grew up in it and I knew even then. Mistakes happen and in a jet I’d just die faster lol

Depends a great deal on the automation on the newer jets. that can land them selves. today that captian & first officer are there to taxi from the gate and to the gate. That's till the f'en automation takes a crap. I think every other land/TO should be done manually under the hood to Minimums just to maintain crew profincy.

You pretty much have to fly any plane constantlyif you're a smart pilot worth their wings. If you're complaining about having to fly, stay on the ground, buy a Tesla and move to a remote island where there are no hazards for the cars AI won't screw up.

He is right specially after 60 years old any pilot should not fly alone becoming the least reliable system on board…the pre-land and bad weather stress seems to be the most critical moments..(Bohr recent Rolf Lips 66 yrs Avanti Costa Rica and Gerard Leclerc 71yrs DH400 France both crashed most likely due to faintness at critical time…)

Ohh, add a 787 just seconds after takeoff, with a push of one button, flies the plane to its destination on its own...

Nah… just go… learn on the fly… who needs insurance…?

This is failed logic. This argument applies to ANY and all flying and is not unique to jets or any single plot aircraft.

Having flow a wide variety of high performance aircraft, the focus is all about maintaining proficiency.

A counter-argument might be that single pilot jets have unique simulators (due to type-rating requirements) whereas a single pilot prop or turboprop might not. Simulators are a great tool for maintaining proficiency at very low costs.

I agree but you are showing a turbo prop, not a jet.
