Check Out my Multiplayer Courses:

Hello guys welcome back to another video. In this video we will be answering the common question of if you need a team to create a game. With Unreal Engine 5, it has never been easier for a solo developer to take their dream and bring it to life. There are so many tools, assets and things that you can use to help you achieve this goal - and in this video we'll be taking a look at how to do just that.

Yes, stop watching the video and do it. Just do it.

4:27 is the most important advice here. I can't count the amount of projects I've abandoned because I dived into it without a plan and eventually got burnt out when I felt the work ahead was just too much

Yes, you can. I'm making my own weird little Cockroach racing game as my first one. It's officially been one year since I started learning UE5! Also, it's been one year since I quit smoking cigarettes! That's not a coincidence either. Idle hands and what not. One day I will make one of the best first person zombie RPG's ever made, I swear it.

For someone like me as a solo developer, I do need a team which is nice, because I do have friends that are dedicated to helping me. We're going to formulate A-Team so we all can work on projects together to achieve that dream!

As a UE learner myself, tips to get started:
- don't worry about materials beyond the basics. Make it fun and functional, then make it look nice. You might save time/money/frustration just buying them anyways.
- Blueprints
- Splines
- Rigging
- Animation

This video is a life saver. My problem is that I always compare my game to multi-millionare companies. I am making a spaceship shooter game but I always get stressed because it's not on a Star Citizen level. Thank you for this video 🙏

As a solo game developer who's been learning game development for 1.5 years, I can add my 2 cents. Most people will never make their own game. First of all, making a game is not just about technical skills or engine abilities like Nanite and Lumen.

Making a game is about crafting a good, engaging story. Therefore, you need to develop your writing skills. As you can guess, this is one of the hardest things in the world. There are thousands of writers, but only a few of them become famous.

The second important thing is to create good game mechanics. Even the top 10 companies face challenges in developing a good game. Look, for example, at Diablo III. The entire Blizzard team, with millions of dollars and hundreds of professionals, had enormous difficulty crafting engaging game mechanics. You can find a whole video about Blizzard and Diablo III on YouTube.

In my opinion, you need to focus not only on technical skills like programming, but also on soft skills like writing and creativity, developing your imagination. Almost no one is talking about teaching these skills. 99.9% are talking about Nanite and Lumen, which is why most game developers will never make a game.

It's very difficult for me to continue on the game development journey
I am a father, husband, son and have a full-time job,
I know this is reality for most people, but I keep trying,
thanks for the inspiration

I believe anybody can be a developer as long as they have time patience and especially dedication! It's just that having friends who have their own workstations and collaborate and work together can make amazing things plus it just makes it that much easier to have a crew you know what I mean!

First id like to say that Smart Poly is awsome!
Now, this is a different topic really but as a n00b, someone who does not know how to code i thought that blueprints would be more helpful than it is. I mean, "Its as simple as that..." i see that allot on these channels and as far as following along it is! But this is the ol "Give a person a fish and they eat for a day, teach them how to fish and they feed themselves for life..." or something like that, ( im sure someone will correct me on that one lol ).
Blueprints, to me, look like a russian dole, you just click this then go into this and then into this and double click this THEN just....holly Inseption Batman!! You need to know what a variable is and all that just like with coding AND THEN you need to know what to type to bring up a certain thing out of a list of 4 things that are very similar...oh...my...god. Its just me right? Am i the crazy one? Am i in the wrong room? Is the room im after down the hall?...I think im in the wrong building altogether!
"Its never been so easy to build a game!"
I mean yeah, if i follow Smart Poly or someone else word for word and step for step but as soon as the Version of Unreal changes and just a couple words change im screwed because i was just coping pretty much, god forbid i make a game then publish it and then a buch of people need me to patch a problem or just update it to the latest something....next time they try play the game their computer will probably catch on fire or the charactors all now have their legs on back the front! =0D
