Mahalo guitarist Brandon Slavinski teaches you how to play "Drive" by Incubus!

Each guitar player and new guitar student develops their own personal style and form as they learn to play over time. Developing some technical skills, like an understanding of tablature, and perhaps studying music theory, notation and rhythm are all important to becoming an accomplished musician. How quickly a certain student learns the guitar will also depend on individual talent and personal dedication to the craft. Practicing songs that are familiar and fun to play for friends can be a motivational inspiration for many guitar students.

Just thought I would post as believe the following is how the main progression is actually played in correct positions.
Pick Open Low E then 7th fret A.
Strum down & Up Open E, 7th fret A, 9th fret D, Open G, 8th fret B, Open E
Pick 7th fret A
Strum down 7th fret A, Open D, 7th fret G & B, Open E
Pick 3rd fret A twice
Strum down & Up 3rd fret A, 5th fret D, 4th fret G, 5th fret B, Open E
Pick Open A
Strum only 5th fret D, 4th fret G, 5th fret B Open E
Pick 3rd fret Low E

In the pre-chorus, I think the second A is more like a A7. If you listen to the original, it sounds a little sloppy or something like that.

this is by far the less complicated hard version of this song. try playing 075770 as a beginner...not. thank you for breaking down the strums and going through all the parts of the song in detail. love it. wil be looking for others by you. ;)

On the pre-chorus, an A7 sounded a lot better to me than an AMaj. Just a thought. Great video though, I subbed.

i disagree, i think using **E-muted A (3rd fret) D (5th fret) G (4th fret) B (open) e (open)** as the third chord in the progression sounds way more clean and easy to get to than what you did. anyone else agree?
