I'm so glad you get it. I feel like the people that get it REALLY get it, but the people that don't just brush it off. My friends and I watched it together right at the end of the school year(11th grade) and it was just incredible. We just sat in silence until the credits finished. It just was so real to us? It was terrifying, but also really comforting? We're starting to really grow up, we're coming up om 12th grade and being 17 which really starts to feel real, like we're growing up. We want to watch we're all going to the worlds fair, and apparently the third part to this trilogy will be a novel. I think it should come out when we're truly young adults, and I can't wait. I'm insanely lucky I'm this specific age when this is all being released. It also had an extra level of kick to it because I recently lost two friends to suicide, and this movie has kind of a scary representation of mental illness if you take it completely literally (Maddy giving on to delusions and committing suicide instead of the pink opaque actually being reality), and it's so much about growing (and in a way not growing up) which my friends will never get to do. I'm oversharing, but this movie is so important to me. I need to watch it again

I’m seeing a few people calling in a new form of Videodrome which definitely piques my interest. Videodrome is one of my favorites, but the content can be rough on those who are more squeamish to body horror (or just haven’t been exposed to it much outside of the mainstream) and the emphasis on analog/cable media severely dates it if you didn’t grow up in that era. I really like the idea of a film that fits that niche but with a more modern approach that I can recommend to friends who are curious about that kind of film but that I don’t want to necessarily throw into the 1980s deep end right out the gate and that this might resonate with them more directly. Then if they do enjoy it, I can point them to stuff like Videodrome as a kind of “here’s where it’s descended from” exercise.

So it’s Videodrome for Gen Z. Fair enough.

I wasn't a big fan of the end. But it's still sticking with me.

It sounds amazing! What’s it on?
Also you should make a video on The Watchers. I just saw it theaters and it was amazing!

Glad I went into this particular film knowing nothing about it other than a few stills, absolutely a Director I'll be keeping an eye on in the future.

For anyone whos watched it: how was the queer allegory? It feels like recently the handling of these stories has gotten kind of ham fisted, flat or "MAKES YOU THINK HUH??" or "ISNT IT SO CONFLICTING???" Territory writing, and i was looking forward to this being a little more nuanced even with the pg13 horror element for queer children!

Could be a synopsis for the next season of stranger things

I don't like the up-in-the-air ending. I'd rather have something more than "who knows what happens to the main characters lol ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ "

Honestly watched this film with high hopes. Totally fell short. Using long pauses between dialogue is an art not a crutch. Also using a musical stage performance as filler for content and stretching out an already painfully slow film, D-. Do better

Liminal horror, just the liminal horror.

Looked good for the most part (although Schoenbrun’s trick of bathing everything in a neon sheen was wearing a bit thin towards the end) but the unsubtle trans allegory felt hamfisted in its execution. A real letdown after the superb We’re All Going to the World’s Fair.
