The Paul Newman Daytona was owned by Paul Newman which is why it sold for that much. Not an accurate comparisson.

Speaking out of his ass. Grey market is extremely vollatile, unless you have major pieces it’ll just retain or lose value

Dont invest in watches, 99% of them end up deprecating, just buy gold if u want something wearable and something that really is proven to rise up in value

This video is a powerful reminder that in high-stakes luxury deals, due diligence and trust are everything. A $17M misstep isn't just a financial loss it’s a lesson in the importance of vetting partners and understanding the market. Appreciate the insight into the complexities of the watch investment world.

Cool and all but back then rolex didn’t make 1000 watches a day, so biggest reason that vintage watches are so hyped is because of low production numbers 👌

The newer Rolex being more mass produced will in no way command those kinda of premiums.

Referencing a very specific Rolex Daytona - which are super rare and comparing it to buying a bog standard one today for 16k is peak muggy behaviour

Gold, gems and diamonds that's what you buy for a future investment.

You can invest the 10k in indexes and make more than that
donkeyopperson
You say that but people who don’t know watches might buy the wrong one so it might not go up

Modern Rolex will never appreciate like the current vintage craze. Why? Rolex wasnt nearly as popular decades ago and today Rolex makes more than 1 million watches a year. Rolex is not rare.

'Peaked' being the important word.

10 grand in the bank is always better than a watch on your wrist

This is when Rolex wasn’t pumping million Rolex’s out a year.
Price may increase over time but you will never get the returns his saying.

I moved to micro controllers where I can download the time from space/GPS.

In what world do you invest 10k and it's worth 8k years later? 😂

Nice you can pay your hospital bills and medicine with your rolex in 40 years what a good use of time

Rolex are mass produced and watches as a collectible item could very well be a thing of the past. Go to any watch dealer and they have tons of old Rolex watches. The only watches of value might be the rare, small production run but even those need to be desirable enough for someone to lay a premium to own it.
