MY SON IS ALLERGIC TO HIS BED | #Ad - SJ STRUM

Finn's health issues hadn't been linked all together holistically until he suffered anaphylactic shock and the allergy tests showed us something surprising that unlocked the cure to eczema, asthma and cause of his severe speech delay.

I feel really passionate about raising awareness of allergies but it is a tough topic for any allergy parent as you never quite relax the same way again as carrying two life saving epipens at all times.

Thank you for making this video, it is beyond important! I have multiple severe allergies and not many people understand!

Gosh! My 4yo has a lot of the same symptoms, also nighttime coughing, bad sleep and nightmares, countless stays at the hospital for “asthma, but we can’t be sure, he’s too young”(?).
Finally the doctor did some tests and found out my son is extremely allergic to our cat, but also dogs and most pets. So we gave away out cat to friends (right before my due date with my daughter, hello hormonally hysterical tears 😅), cleaned the whole flat top to bottom and it got better... but not 100%
I kept telling my husband something’s still not quite right.
So glad you shared your story, I will take this as a sign to trust my guts and get the doctor to test other allergens like dust mites.
Thank you SJ, great parenting video as always.
Sending you and your family lots of love from Switzerland 🇨🇭

I didn’t know I was allergic until the age of 20 when I had anaphylaxis in a restaurant last December, I now carry epipens! Really appreciate everything you do on your channel for allergy awareness, so important!💗

Wonderful job sweet SJ. Your awareness and intuition run strong. Your being attuned and advocating for your children will forevermore serve. As I’m watching I’m hearing you put the puzzle pieces into place and I’m cheering you. I also want to encourage you to investigate a step further. I’m sharing based on my own experience and decades of chronic illness. I encourage you to look into gut health. It’s the driver of the immune system, our defense against environmental and biological toxins. I was born caesarean and missed that first inoculation of gut flora. I believe it set the stage and path of illness. Allergies, cognitive function and so much more linked to the gut. My best to you and your family.

I went through five months of not being able to breathe without struggling because of anaphilactic shock to the point where it effected my heart. The doctors did not know what this was. They would not help me. I went to my nutritionist who diagnosed me with a latex reactive food allergy. I cannot have avocado, tomato, apple, banana, carrot, chocolate, gluten or any grain apart from rice and corn...and the list is alot longer than that. My allergies to grain and gluten cause me severe body pain and migraines in addition to the breathing struggles.

Latex pillows and mattresses are naturally anti mold and anti dust mite.

I love when you post real life videos like this. I appreciate how hard it must be to talk about something that makes your child vulnerable as well. But it really is important to share! My little one hasn't shown any signs of allergies yet, but you never know at what age something could develop. Good to be knowledgable.

Aw bless him so glad you have got to the bottom of it for Finn and he’s doing ok. How scary for you all. I never knew you could be allergic to your bed.
We are having troubles with Edwards speech basically it’s non existent at the moment and he just makes noises. I will certainly be looking out for other symptoms after watching your video to see if it has anything to do with dust mites. Thankyou so much for sharing xxxx

Hi, just found you & always wanted to watch an allergy mum. Im an allergy mum, my son suffers from nuts sesame coconut allergies and know how hard it is to live with it. Can you post a video about what precautions you take when you eat out and what you do when you take him out. Wishing all the best

SJ I am a mother of 2, a 4 year old and a baby and you really inspire me. A lot of mum content I’ve seen is about routines or cleaning (which I enjoy), but I really enjoy your content because you focus on the relationship and practical stuff like this. Our relationship with our children is the most important thing, that might seem obvious but it’s something I’ve had to learn.

My son had infant asthma but grew out of it and never had dietary allergies thankfully. My daughter has no asthma symptoms but has eczema, I am going to check out these products. It was only after I became a parent that I realised how many toxins I was using around the house and eliminated them but we’ve just stuck with non bio till now.

My son has asthma he’s allergic to dog and anything furry, dust, grass,

Been told to put teddy’s in the freezer.

He is 6, has his first attack at about 18months old.

Also like to add, their is no such thing as a hypoallergenic dog. The word hypoallergenic means your less likely to be allergic, not the you won’t be allergic.

Thank you. I love all your videos.
All of us can benefit from this eco cleaner and dust mite barriers.
So many of us blame our puffy morning eyes on salty foods.
Thank you for being a loving mum and generously sharing your wisdom.
You make our world a happier place.
Bless you a thousand times .:':.

I have allergy asthma. I also have bad asthma when I get a cold. My allergic asthma is environmental and affects me in the Spring and Fall. This year hasn’t been too bad but usually I end up in the ER when I can no longer manage it at home with my puffers and nebulizer. Steroids work so well but I really don’t like needing to take them.

Another thing worth mentioning is the awareness of dust mites in bedtime soft toys.

I am an allergy Mom. My daughter has anaphylactic allergy to peanuts and nuts.

My son had multiple mild allergies that collectively were a big problem when he was a small child. Lots of ER visits and hospital stays for pneumonia as a product of his allergies. His speech was also affected and he always sounded like he had mashed potato in his mouth when he talked. He missed many of the first and last consonants of words because of the inflammation in his nasal passages and throat. Some of his words would begin with a slight snort sound. His speech improved so much when his allergies were managed and also as he grew and his passages enlarged.
I’m so sorry you are dealing with this but so glad you have answers. Night time coughing can so easily be passed off as dryness in the house, post nasal drip, reflux, constant school germs.
Allergy awareness is so important. Thank you for using your platform to share your story and educate others.

I’m also allergic to dust mites and I only found out when I was a teenager. I also have asthma. I didn’t know about the anti-dust mite bedding!

I suffered from allergic asthma as a child; it would always get unbearable around spring/fall, since I was bringing in pollen/dust from recess. Night coughs, wheezing, ear aches, lethargy, etc. But once you figure out what sets you off, you can live a much more comfortable life! And scentless soaps are your best friend

SJ, I have to share this story with you. My little sister has the same exact health conditions as your son. It was deja vu watching this video. My sister allergy induced asthma triggers were dust mites and cats. So no pets growing up. I remember how scary it was to see her fighting to take a breath and constantly in the hospital. What I want to tell you is I truly understand how scary and tough life can be with this illness. I hope you find comfort in knowing that it does get better. My sister still is dealing with allergies and asthma. It definitely got better for her as an adult. But she’s married to her high school sweet heart and has 2 beautiful daughters. She just has to live life a little different than most people. I wanted to share a positive outcome to something so scary. Thank you for sharing, my parents would have appreciated this.
