I’ve been using a Macbook Air for quite some time now and rely heavily on cloud computing for my machine learning tasks. To handle the computational demands, I primarily utilize Google Colab for quick experiments and prototypes. Google colab provides free GPU access but I also purchase some more GPU power on the go. For more substantial projects or when I need greater control over resources, I would suggest trying out AWS SageMaker or Google Cloud Platform (GCP). These platforms offer a wider range of instance types and customizable environments.

While cloud computing offers immense flexibility and cost-efficiency, I understand that people prefer the independence of owning powerful hardware. If you're looking to invest in a laptop for machine learning, I'd strongly recommend one with a dedicated NVIDIA GPU and sufficient memory "at least" 16 GB of RAM. This will significantly accelerate your model training process. Also a very minor point to mention, ensure that the laptop you choose has CUDA enabled for optimal performance with machine learning frameworks.

I am still learning and exploring the machine learning field myself, so if anyone could contribute suggestions for laptop purchases, I would be grateful.
