Hear the song of the machines - Swedish communist song [Eng subs]

Hör maskinernas sång (Hear the song of the machines) is a classic communist song in Swedish by the band Knutna Nävar (Clenched Fists). It's a workers song that celebrates factories, industries and the people working in them, as well as calling them and I think it's quite beautiful.

What I didn't know before is that the music for this song actually is composed by Buffy Sainte-Marie - it's her song He Lived Alone in Town that Knutna Nävar has put new lyrics to. This is something I found out randomly while listening to Sainte-Marie's album It's My Way!, where the song Universal Soldier also can be found. I haven't seen anyone online write about the connection between these two songs, but it's a funny piece of trivia.

On this channel, I translate Swedish communist and socialist music (most of it from the 1970s). That includes anti-capitalist songs, worker songs and Vietnam songs. Subscribe if you want to support the channel and not miss any of the upcoming videos!

Even though the song was made in the 70's, the melody sounds almost medieval. It reminds me of Lady Maisery, very hopeful and soothing

Detta var peaken för arbetaren. 😂 Arbetaren blev bara mer och mer obetydlig för varje år som gick efter att denna sång gjordes, ironiskt nog.

Jag må vara emot allt denna låt sjunger om, men den är nog banger ändå

This song sounds so cheerful and uplifting, but the lyrics are absolutely dystopian (just like the modern Sweden).

Arbetarstat? Jaja, det har väl funnits ett antal sådana innan muren föll. Fast jag tror inte de arbetarna hade det bättre än de Svenska.
