HAHAHAHA! Rodney.... love just seeing how real you are on camera. You seem like a very fun guy, just in general, and your mannerisms are very endearing to your audience. Loved watching every minute of this so far (I’m about 1/3rd through, at the point where you’re showing your collection) and it has me smiling and laughing. This video is just....great. Thank you. And....you NEED to do more of these. I only wish I had caught it live.

Update: Your ‘frenetic’ description towards the end nails the description of this show perfectly. It’s what made it so much fun to watch, though!

I think your partnership with BGG has really added a great dimension to the channel! I have enjoyed getting to know them a little bit more, and it has enhanced my depth of knowledge of the hobby. I miss Pep, and would love to see him come for a visit, but I like having the additional interaction and experience of BGG.

Rodney, I would like to officially request that you make a meta-rule video, find your notes and make a video about how to teach games. That would be great!

Very fun to watch this, Rodney! Ah, so the travel is causing the cut back on the game play videos. My totally selfish vote is less travel, more gameplay videos. :D

People trying to "correct ratings" make the BGG rating system practically useless. Most every game I search for is 6-7. There are some outliers, but they are not common. Having a rating system that spans such a small range where the bottom end doesn't mean bad and the top end doesn't mean great makes it to where I never find the rating useful to me. On that note, I don't typically rate my games either, as I dont think it would be helpful - I vet my acquisitions to the point that I'm fairly certain most things im buying would be at least a 7 for me, which leads us right back to where we started with the ratings as a whole.

My advice? Watch folks like Rodney who show you how it works and see if it looks fun and interesting to you. Skip the ratings and ask yourself "does this seem fun? Am I going to want to get this to the table?"

Great stuff, Rodney - thanks!

I love that the video cuts out in the middle of his closing remarks

I agree that a lot of times, women are discouraged from continuing to playing because they are treated as unequal players. My wife and daughter can definitely hold their own. Unless a person needs a little bit more help, then just teach the game equally to everyone. I like the idea that you teach older games. The first game I learned from you was Ticket to Ride when it was already more than 10 years old, and then I subscribed, and I learned about new games, and added to my collection! As for painting are ahead of me. I still haven’t even bought my paints yet! Glad to see you getting into magic. I might recommend you to look into the International Brotherhood of Magicians. There may be a chapter near you and you can meet other magicians and learn from them. I started when I was about 8. If you don’t mind my asking, where is Andrea working now?

I agree about the tension in Watergate!!! We totally get into character when playing. Even when playing “the bad guy....”.

Finally, you and your videos have definitely been a huge part of my wife and my development in this hobby. We have taken it to a whole new level. It’s sort of funny in a way, when we were in the local game store, I told the person I was looking for mostly 2 person games, she show me games that were 3+ person games. Other times, she showed me an expansion and I told her it was the expansion (Zombicide: Invader which I know is a stand alone game, but she had no idea that it was not the original) I told her that was actually the expansion. I was back in the store again and they did the same thing, a totally different person helping me. But because of you I knew more about the games they were selling than the people working in the game store!!! I was nice, don’t worry. But I just thought it was sort of funny. And it made me proud to be part of the Watch it Played family. Because I was able to make more informed decisions about what to NOT buy when I was told something that was wrong by the person in the store who should have been better I am but a padawan learner, you are the Master, and I always have enjoyed your videos!

Thank you for the kind words Rodney. Me and Christian do have the intention to work on something together at some point... hopefully.

I really enjoy the videos you make. You always do such a great job on your how to play videos. Have you ever considered doing a video on Eldritch Horror?

Rodney, Since you typically don’t go into reviewing games and giving opinions on them, which I commend you for having the control, or developing the control over the years not to give them, what about considering at some point in your review, bringing up that if people find your review of a certain game interesting or curious recommend a game similar in theme or game mechanic? For example “ if you find Monolith Arena interesting, you may also want to consider games X, Y and Z for these such reasons.” You could then leave it up to your followers to theorize if Rodney liked or not liked a game based on your recommendations or lack of them ;)
Just a thought and my two cents. Keep up the great work. You’re why I’m into gaming for the last several years. Thanks!!

I totally missed the livestream. Was there any mention of the board gaming marathon that had been planned?

Of course I enjoyed, you could have some guest also like Marty or Pep from time to time

My collection skews medium-light too, because I have a lot of games in that category. I'd rather play a heavier game, but that isn't always possible. Also, I find I need fewer heavy games because they stand up to repeated plays, whereas I'm pretty sick of my lighter games and so I'm always on the lookout for more light games so I have variety on that level.

What was the website for the board game helper?

I remember you saying that you would try to give thoughts on games on other channels when you join them. Watching the episodes of Game Night that you are on is one instance where everyone discusses the game and you are mostly silent because you dont want to give your thoughts.
