Karen Armstrong makes perfect sense to me. I have that ah ha recognition when she speaks or writes. So glad to have discovered her.

Her book "A History of God" took me a long time to read and digest; but it has helped me understand how she came up with this brief synthesis. I look forward to reading more of her books.

What was delivered by Karen Armstrong is the result of her spiritual journey as sincerely as possible to translate the verses of the Qur'an according to her understanding. Me as a Muslim although there few things that I don't agree with but it's ok because many things she said are in line with my understanding

Allah SWT said:
"We will show them *Our signs in the horizons and within themselves until it becomes clear to them that it is the truth* . But is it not sufficient concerning your Lord that He is, over all things, a Witness?"
(QS. Fussilat 41: Verse 53)

We now discover the Pope agrees with her about the validity of other faiths.

I have no clue what she just said, she's no authority to masquerade as a person that understands God, Karen Armstrong literature should be read with caution

I think that God is filtered through different cultural lenses.

At the end of the day... is the God that Karen describing going to let me into heaven? is He assuring me with love and care that He is expecting me in heaven?
While I don't agree with her beliefs, I read a bit about her life... Homegirl was literally whipping herself and hurting herself for the sake of Jesus, which is absolutely crazy. I think her catholic experience didn't accommodate her natural gifts and talents... Also, she was so awkward and people from her university even said she didn't have friends. Karen said so herself she had "traumatizing and disappointing" experiences growing up... She obviously had a difficult life and I think God will take that into consideration and honor the original intentions before this world confused her.

I can't imagine actually wanting to make a living pushing such utter nonsense.

Armstrong takes advantage of the fact that there are many who struggle to find a god belief that's less embarrassing than the one they may have grown up with, but I think it's *more* embarrassing to be an adult constructing "sophisticated" phantoms than it is to be the naive & trusting young believer.

As Mano Singham has said:

"When sophisticated theologians talk about god, one quickly finds oneself wandering around in a rhetorical fog in which god becomes a constantly shape-shifting entity described by metaphors whose meanings are always just beyond one’s grasp. One has to struggle to understand what they are talking about because what these sophisticated thinkers imagine to be god is so far removed from what any ordinary person thinks that I have long suspected that they are actually atheists struggling to find a way to salvage belief in something transcendental that would not be seen as manifestly anti-science or otherwise ridiculous in the circle of intellectuals amongst whom they move."

So much words, so little meat. Her God is so mysterious and ineffable, and yet she has written tons of books to describe him.

This is utter crap. Makes me think of Donald Sutherland and Pinto in Animal House talking about the universe in your fingernail.

That's a lot of intellectual gymnastics packed into in a 3 minute video.  Ms. Armstrong should give that vibrant imagination a rest.
