Back in the early 80s, dad would make it in a pot and then dump it into a paper shopping bag, then melt butter and pour it in as well as salt. It had the best 'fried' taste to you go to an event that has someone cooking kettle corn in a big ol' has the fried taste I'm talking about.

couple things to consider. Its better to have a handle and shake it while popping in order to prevent kernals from burning. Its best to have it not completely covered to prevent the popcorn from getting soggy. Personally I use a cheap air popper because nothing can go wrong.

Equal parts oil and butter. The oil protects the butter from scorching. And then you don't have to melt butter after the popcorn is done.

You can also microwave popcorn by throwing it into a paper bag no oil necessary. That’s how I do it.

Tip add oil and butter and one kernel only. Once the single kernel pops, your oil is hot and ready for the rest
