I was a brand new convert aged 28 in London and the lessons one Sabbath day at church were about the pioneers and all they gave up to come to America to join the saints in Utah. I was walking to the bus stop with the sister missionaries and I brought up this sacrifice. One sister said without missing a beat: “There’s no way I’m going to give up my hair dryer!” I was shocked by this attitude and now as a seasoned convert of 38 years who has lost everything - family, friends, country - even children, I feel the same way as Elder Holland, to me, a modern day Jacob, He recently echoed a conviction of my own: “The gospel means everything to me!”

President Nelson said in a recent interview that he NEVER looks back, only ahead. An incredible statement for a man his age.

When we keep revisiting our sins we deny the atonement of Christ who already paid the price for them. We keep opening the wound, as it were. Christ wants to heal us but we won’t let him. Pride?

Brother Ben, wonderful insights on this weeks lesson with a Power Packed Scripture Block. Can I share some brief insights after discussing Alma 29 specifically verse 6 with my Seminary Class. We were discussing Mission Calls and Callings where some were disappointed that they were not called somewhere else or received a more popular position in the church. We need to remember the phrase, "Bloom Where Your Planted" and ponder the following simple verse: "Father, where shall I work today?" And my love flowed warm and free. Then he pointed out a tiny spot, And said, "Tend that for me." I answered quickly, "Oh, no, not that! Why, no one would ever see, No matter how well my work was done. Not that little place for me." And the word he spoke, it was not stern; He answered me tenderly: "Ah, little one, search that heart of thine; Art thou working for THEM or for ME? Nazareth was a little place, And so was Galilee" YES, BLOOM WHERE YOUR PLANTED !!

I think the only kind of missionary work I can do at thisAt this stage of my life it’s temple work through genealogy. You lesson really filled my heart

I always understood giving up sins for blessings but l never had thought about giving up blessings for sins. So simple and l never saw it. Thanks again for helping me think.

Thank your for your inspiring lessons. I enjoy your lessons. One little correction: At 23:50, the second scripture reference is Alma 24:17, not 27:27 or 27:17. I found that as I was following the scriptures.
