How to make the Sidecar Cocktail
STORY
The Sidecar cocktail is traditionally made with cognac, orange liqueur (I take Cointreau) and freshly squeezed lemon juice. The exact origin of the sidecar is unclear, but it is thought to have been invented around the end of World War I in either London or Paris. The drink was directly named for the motorcycle attachment which was very commonly used back then.
INGREDIENTS
40 ml/ 1 ½ oz. Cognac
20 ml/ ¾ oz. Cointreau orange liqueur
20 ml/ ¾ oz. freshly squeezed lemon juice
METHOD
1. Put a sugar rim on your chilled martini glass.
2. Pour all ingredients into cocktail shaker filled with ice.
3. Shake well and strain into cocktail glass.
4. Garnish with an orange zest.
NOTES
Sugar rim at Sidecar cocktail? Some make a sugar rim, others do not.
