While I’m not the biggest fan of floodgates, I’d rather there be archetype specific floodgates than those side-deck lurking generic ones

A take I havent seen a lot of around here, is that if that the Floodgate is on a monster, it makes it infinitely more outable than having to deal with a bunch of backrow. I am a Master Duel player (i know i shouldn't have an opinion) and the amount of times that "X has a floodgate or macro cosmos effect" have not really been an issue is staggering. There are a multitude of outs to monster based floodgates (imperm, kaiju and kaiju variants like volcanic queen, santa claws and golem, underworld, Just beating over) that can be sided in a bunch of different decks without it necessarily throwing off deck fluidity. There's also the bigger plus that the standard outs of back row floodgates can often be counters to the outs themselves (anti-spell being a nuke against boarded options like cosmic, lightning storm, feather duster, etc) and you dont have that problem in necessarily the same way with monster based floodgates. In my opinion its so much easier to be able to work through a protos with imperm than it is to deal with Gozen/Rivalry by hoping you draw into cyclone.

I think the unhit to protos and specifically colossus is that unlike things like summon limit, gozen tcboo etc. It's not as generic and can't just be thrown into any deck that can even somewhat play around it
