#4 How to Use Mirror Neurons to Influence People

When communicating with people, if we trigger their mirror neurons, they will be more empathetic to our perspective. They will be much more likely to be influenced by the way we're thinking.

We literally mirror others in corresponding parts of our brain. This doesn't just happen with actions such as tasting "pickle juice," but also with thoughts and feelings.

If you are communicating with a person or group of people, you are more likely to influence them if you are thinking empathetically -- that, is, truly trying to understand them and be open to being influenced by their point of view. Because of mirror neurons, your empathetic thinking will probably trigger them to think empathetically as well.

Rather than persuasion, which will probably cause people to 1) defend their own point of view or 2) surrender to your perspective without fully supporting it, engaging people with empathy is more likely to help you mutually arrive at a destination that you both fully support.
