The ICC has introduced the latest international cricket venture called the World Cup Super League to bring context to all bilateral ODI series before the ICC ODI World Cup in 2023. Just like the World Test Championship was introduced to give importance to the Test series among the top 8 nations, this new tournament will help ODI cricket get well-fought.

It is a well-thought-out league that will feature 13 ODI teams playing eight bilateral series each, four home and four away. Out of the 13, 12 teams are ICC Full Members, i.e., Australia, Bangladesh, England, India, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa, Sri Lanka, West Indies, Zimbabwe, Afghanistan, and Ireland. The 13th team in the competition in the Netherlands. The Dutch cricket team had won the World Cricket League Championship and thus are deserving to play against the big teams.
