hi guys in this video My boyfriend Bas and I both make a paint by numbers painting! He has no artistic experience or anything. We had a lot of fun making this video so I hope you enjoy!

Bas loves to play the piano and has recently uploaded his first YouTube video!

Just because it’s a paint by numbers doesn’t mean you have no artistic freedom. No one is going to stop you from painting outside the lines or using whatever color you want. I like to use the numbers as a guide and then improvise different parts.

I’m about a quarter done with my first paint by numbers kit. It does take a lot of time and my eyes tend to lose focus after awhile, but it is relaxing and satisfying. I was happy to see that even a non artist (like myself) made a painting that looked pretty good!

Yes definitely! The 26 hours was worth it, you can see the details and the painting looks more realistic. I'm glad I watched this cause now I know it depends on the artist and not the quality of the kit.

I prefer the guy’s sky but prefer the lady’s ship. It’s great they both painted a piece of art to grace any wall. Great review and super camerawork 🙏

Next time try ironing the canvas to get all the creases out before painting. Then I would use clear gesso. Then I like stretching it on stretcher bars. And finally I would add Liquitex Flow aid to the paints to make them creamier before I would paint.

I just bought my 1st kit. I'm going to clear gesso my canvas and use a flow aid in my paint along with better brushes. Luckily I have everything already.

I’ve been painting by numbers for around 4 years. I’ve even done a few commissions for friends and family now I’m more confident. Canvas, paint and brushes are really important for a good finish. I am not an artist but have plenty of patience. Thanks

Fun to watch and see the outcome however I don't consider taking a lot of time to do as a CON. I enjoy taking my time, that's what it's all about for me.

I just ordered this exact PBN and was so happy to find it being done here. I had initially considered starting with the darkest color like Bas did but after seeing the final results, I will follow your lead and do the mid range colors first. Thank you for this!

My Dad use to do this in the 60s, believe it or not some of his paintings are now worth good money ! but would never sell them, nice job you guys, I do this while watching TV to avoid all the Sales adds.

I've found that the toothpicks used to stir the paint are great to push paint into little areas on the canvas. Even smaller than the tip of the brush! I also have a very small, fine paintbrush I use that I purchased on my own, for not very much money. I have also been known to use the tip of a pin (safety pin or sewing pin) to add little details like a line through feathers in a flamingo. I think working a very blue/brown painting like your demo would be awfully depressing; I search out PNB kits that are bright colors and fun images to keep myself entertained while I work on them for hours and hours and hours :) It's nice to know through your demonstration that taking the time and effort in details does make a difference in the outcome!

Great results. Just a heads up! Use clear gesso on canvas prior to painting. Makes a huge difference in filling in all of the divits on the piece. Good job guys 👍

I think skills matter when you are a perfectionist 😁😂... so for me right one was better of course! 🔥

I enjoy it because it's relaxing takes the stress out of life. I'm an artist and two or three hours a day and take a week to finish a painting well I'm babysitting the kids doing online schooling. I enjoy it to see the finished painting.

You can improve the surface by using a clear gesso. This really helps with smoother application.

I have just started pbn, and have learnt that taking a photo of the canvas before painting helps find those numbers you might accideny paint over.
