There could have been tariffs long ago to prevent US companies such as Bethlehem Steel from going out of business.

Trump 2016: “Trust me, Mexico will pay for the wall!”

Trump 2024: “Trust me, Mexico, Canada and China will pay for the tariffs!”

American voters are SO gullible.

I love how some people didn’t complain about inflation and prices last 4 years, and now Trump wants to put tariffs in place to protect American jobs, the same people are complaining about prices going up. Btw Biden continued pretty much all of Trump’s tariffs. He even increased tariffs on $18 billion of goods from China just back in May.

I work for Nippon Steel Pipe of America in Seymour Indiana, during the busy season I work anywhere from six to seven days a week. If i work six i make 950 dollars a week, but due to our current tax system if i work all seven days my check is only 890 dollars... If i gotta work every single day then my pay better reflect that. I shouldn't make less when working more. And dont even try to give me that BS about "oh youll get more back on your tax check"
I need that money right now, not a year from now

This could take decades. By the time manufacturing returns to the US it will be heavily automated and robotic. Tariffs or no tariffs.

I remember this re-run. It's when the orange man imagines he is an economic genius, and steel prices increased 30%. This resulted in higher prices for automobiles and home construction. The wealth of the top 1% increased 32%.

It will take decades of tariffs to encourage domestic manufacturing. 4 years won't do anything.

Tariffs are alot easier to get rid of than taxes.

TARIFFS WILL MAKE CORPS MAKE US GOODS. These clowns are arguing for keeping corporations low labor cost. Right now corps don't want to pay higher wages. Is the real arguement here

I remember the last time Trump was president. Steel prices sky rocketed. And yeah the company I worked for made more money.... Did they pay their employees more? Hahaha. Of course not. This doesn't help the working class in any way ... But hey. The bosses can afford more stuff now so win win?

Corporations can afford to pay the cost of course, because ultimately it's the AMERICAN CONSUMER WHO PAYS FOR THE TARIFFS

Scared people can't see the truth of what Trump is doing. Nor can hateful people.
